Falling

~CHAPTER 3~

   "Kora, help me. I need you Kora, I need you to help me." All of a sudden the bell rings and I snap back to reality. What was that, I think to myself, now im getting these voices while im awake. I seriously need to get a cat scan, maybe I got hit harder then I though. I walk out of class and head towards my locker to get some books, and meet with Kaylee and Cassie for lunch. I get to my locker and open it and hear the voice again. "Kora, I will have you, I will find you, you cant hide from me anymore." I’m starting to get a head ache and pop a couple of Advil's as they walk up, with Blake and who else, Darian.

   As we walk to the courtyard to get some lunch and a spot, Darian starts to walk beside me. After hearing what I just heard in class I didn't really know what to say to him. "Hi.""Hi, how's your day going so far? Made any new friends?" "None really except for them" pointing to my friends "and this girl Cara in our class, but she seems kind of, I don't know how to say it, I guess clingy." we both laughed, and a flood of relief coursed threw my body. "Oh and of course you, if it wasn't for you I wouldn't be having the day im having, so thank you, this may be a bad thing but im glad I 'ran into you'" and we couldn't help it we both busted out laughing. The others found a table over under a big tree and we set our stuff down and got lunch. Me being a vegetarian got a salad, some garden salsa sun chips, and a can of coke. "hum that looks great, I think ill have what your having" said Darian right behind me. "I didn't know you where a vegetarian, I am to, I love veggies and fruit." "Wow, its amazing how much we have in common"I laughed.

   Back at the table Darian sat next to me, so close i could smell his sweet smelling cologne. His smile was so breath taking i had to remind myself to stop staring at him. When he looked at me, my whole body tensed up and tingled. I could look into his eyes forever and never get bored. I wondered what it would be like for him to touch me, just a simple touch. Would my skin heat up, and tingle like when he looked at me?

   I snapped out of it when i realized they were all looking at me. "Uhm, what?" i asked. "We were just asking if you where going to the ball in two weeks" Cassie said. "I'm not sure, i don't have a dress or anyone to go with." "well, you can come with me, Kaylee and Blake are going and i don't have a date yet so me, you, and Darian can make it a group hang out thing" Cassie asked with big eyes. I was never interested in the whole dance/ball thing, but she was giving me her puppy dog eyes to say yes, so i gave in. "Sure, do you want to go shopping some time this weekend so i can find something then?" "ok, i need something too so i can pick you up tomorrow at around two-thirty. That sound good to you?" "Yea it sounds fine to me."

   "So, is this a formal thing or casual, i have never been to one of these things" Darian said seeming kind of embarrassed. "Its formal but i think something like what you have on would look great" i said to him once again getting lost in his eyes. For a moment everything got blurry except us, we just looked into each others eyes and i felt myself falling. I saw it in his eyes, sadness, loneliness and it took all i could not to reach out to him and touch his soft looking skin or kiss his lip. I felt the urge to tell him everything was ok, that i was ok.

   As i was about to reach out, like i was in a trance, the bell rang. It seemed like he was entrapped also because when the bell rang he looked like he snapped out of it to, and looked away. I felt a sense of sadness as i grabbed my stuff and stood up. Not looking at him, and him not looking at me felt strange. I felt incomplete, like something important was missing.

   Darian and i walked to sixth period together in silence. I wasn't sure what to say after that. I didn't want to bring it up because i wasn't sure if it just happen to me or both of us. Plus this was the first guy I've ever had feelings for, and i didn't want to scare him off. Its weird, all my life, 17 years, I’ve never had feelings for anyone like that. I don't know why, it just never happen.

   In class Darian sat next to me again. We still hadn't said anything to each other. The school bully walked in, Chris Killen, who happen to sit behind me and make my life a living hell every day. I had completely forgotten about him today because of so much that has happen. As Chris passes by me he knocks over my bag spilling everything out. He sits down and just laughs as i pick it all up. Darian looks over at me and looks seriously pissed off. Next thing i know Darian is over in front of Chris picking him up by his collar about to punch him. I don't know how, but i jumped up right in time to stop Darian from hitting him right in his face by grabbing Darian's fist mid swing. Darian looks at me shocked, as i do the same at my own hand, while Chris just dangles their with his eyes closed tight and face scrunched up. Darian looks at him and drops him back in his seat and gets in his face. "If you ever, so much as look in her direction again, you'll wish you where never born into the pathetic meaningless life of yours, do you understand me?" "yes, yes i do, please just don't hurt me" Chris said shaking and looking like he's about to cry. Darian and i sat back in our seats as the teacher came in.

   I was in shock, nobody had ever stood up to him like that, especially not over me. I must have looked it because as class was going on Darian passed me a note. "are you ok?" "yea, im good, what happen, why did you do that to him. Don't get me wrong, i don't mind, but its just nobody's ever done that for me before." "I'm sorry, its just, i didn't like him treating you like that, you don't deserve it. Nobody does." "Thank you, i really appreciate it, that guy has made my life hell the past 2 weeks and it was really irritating." "No problem, ill always be here to protect you..." As i read those words I looked up at him and smiled, but he didn't even notice because i could tell on his face, he was thinking about something very hard, and he looked upset and angry and his fisst were balled up so hard his knuckles where white.

    Class went by pretty slowly. Darian and i had stopped talking when the teacher found us passing notes. He gave us a warning since Darian was new and i told him we were talking about his schedule but he said to leave it until after class. I was happy that Darian had seventh and eighth free because so did i. I didn't want to gloat but i was pretty smart. I had always been a strait A student but never needed to study. After sixth was over i told him i didn't have any more classes either and that i just needed to go to my locker and i would meet him at his car in ten minutes.

   When i walked up to my locker Kaylee was waiting for me and asked if i was ready to go. "Actually i have another ride.." "Who? "Darian, he offered this morning to take me home to." "OOOOOOOH girl you better get on that, you know you like him" she laughed. "Yea, so maybe i do, but he's way to out of my league he would probably be better to get with Cara. I heared her talking about him this morning." "Well has he said anything about her?" "yea, just that she seems a little bit clingy..." "See, hes not interested in her, i think he likes you, y’all got that whole body language going on. But ill call you later i got to get home and study for this test before Blake and Cassie get out. Bye, have fun" she said with a wink and walked away. When she said that my heart started pounding and racing, i was so nervous. I shut my locker and started out to the car lot.
