This is a companion course to take along side The Craft of Plot. Just like the other classes from Wesleyan's Creative Writing Intensive, it's free! It takes four weeks and if you start it now you'll finish it in time for the beginning of National Novel Writing Month (or as non-writers call it, November).
Along with The Craft of Plot, I learned immensely from this class. I think that these two classes have probably been the most valuable of all the lessons and resources I have sought out. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Homework: Find something that helps you get in your character's head, whether it's a piece of music, a novel they would have read, a piece of clothing they own, or a painting they love. Then write a paragraph about that that item makes your character feel. Maybe they love it, maybe they have it, maybe it perplexes or inspires them. But really get into your character's mind set and let me see what that looks/feels like.
