Racing Against the Clock (Kagehina AU)

"Hey Dr. Kageyama," Hinata says groggily with a smile laying down on his side. I wonder how he is even able to smile...

"Hello Hinata," I check over all his vitals.

"How about you ask me a question this time?" He bites his lip a little bit in anticipation. He sits up and crosses his legs and leans forward with a excited expression. He does it so fast I was scared he was going to get a head rush and maybe fall but luckily he didn't. I could tell he knows he moved too fast but he tryed to cover it up with a smile. I look him up and down resulting in him blushing a bit. He continues to stare at me waiting for me to answer.

"Rate your pain on a scale of one to ten," I say emotionlessly. He frowns and thinks for a moment knowing I'm purposefully ignoring his question.

"Awwwwww come on Dr. Kageyama!" He whines smiling and giggling a bit. How can he be so happy.

"Hinata I'm your doctor. I can't be your-"

"Can you please be my friend?" He interrupts me. I start to shake my head no but he continues. "Please? Pretty please?" I start to walk out. "Dr. Kageyama, am I just that appalling?"

"No, Hinata... J-J-Just c-call me Kageyama," I stutter a bit but eventually got my words out. His face lit up as he layed back down on his side and shook his head 'yes' against the pillow vigorously.

"Sure," he says with a toothy grin.

"WHAT THE FUCK KAGS!" Oikawa says after I tell him about my conversation with Hinata two days later. "YOU BARELY GET BY WITH ME CALLING YOU JUST KAGEYAMA! It's been what? 3 days? Since you have met this guy?! And he's already allowed to call you just Kageyama not Dr. Kageyama." I shrug my shoulders as I bite into my burger. Today Oikawa, Iwaizumi, Bokuto, Akaashi, Kenma, Kuroo and I have decided to go to Shiratorizawa for lunch. They wouldn't stop pestering me about one of my patients Hinata Shoyo for some reason. "Are you in love with him or something?!"

"No... he's just a patient," I say with my mouth full.

"Ew! Kags don't do that!" I punch his arm. He knows well that I hate it when he calls me that.

"Anyway... how's training, nurse Kenma?" I ask once I swallow the food that was in my mouth. Kenma is the youngest of our friends and he is just starting to learn to be a nurse. However Kenma just shrugs his shoulders and pulls out his Nintendo DSI and starts playing a game.

"He told me earlier is was horrible but he's powering through," Kuroo spoke for Kenma who clearly had no interest in the conversation. Kuroo is the second youngest and he is one of the youngest doctors in the country. In fact Kuroo isn't all that bad either. He assisted me in many surgeries and did very well for his age. However he has the tendency to poke his nose where it doesn't belong. Hinata's friends Tanaka and Nishinoya use to be like that before but I completely ignored them so they eventually stopped. "So why was the Shoyo kid holding onto your tie or shirt or whatever... what happened there?"

"WaIT WHat YoU dIDn'T tElL Me abOuT THis?!" Oikawa sends me a angry expression but I avoid his gaze.

"It was nothing," I feel my face starting to heat up so I try to cover it up with my hair by looking down. I'd hate to have Oikawa see me like this. He will never let me live it down.

"It couldn't have been nothing," Iwaizumi crosses his arms and smirks.

"Ooooooo what are you guys talking about?" Bokuto buts in, pushing up his big bulky glasses. Akaashi and Bokuto were in their own world together until just now. Can they go back to that world now. Bokuto is a zoologist. He studies all kinds of animals but his favorite is the Snowy Owl. Akaashi on the other hand is a chemist who works to try to find cures and makes medicines for different diseases. They work just down the street from the rest of us making it easy for us to get together almost everyday for lunch.
