Spock's skin color was originally supposed to be different.
Originally, Spock's skin was supposed to be a dark red, or at least have a red tint to it. Thankfully they abandoned this idea when they realized that on black-and-white tv's, Spock's skin would look black, and might look like he was performing blackface. PR disaster averted.
