"Peace wake up, Eurydice is on the phone. She wants to speak to you." My mom says walking into my room
"Tell her I'm sick."
"Tell her yourself chica." She says before handing me the phone and walking away
"Hello." I yawn into the phone
"Goodmorning, Peace. How'd you sleep?" Eurydice asks
"Good, I guess."
"That's great." she continues "Guess what?"
" What?" I ask
"I think Ares is gay."
I nearly choked on my own spit.
"I think Ares is gay." she repeats
" I heard you the first time, but why would you think that?"
"Because I've set him up on 5 different dates with some decent girls and he doesn't seem to be interested. Plus all he wants to do is listen to Frank Ocean, watch old re-runs of Oprah and eat steaks with hard boiled egg whites."
I wrinkle my nose. Boy do I feel bad for Ares. I can hear him in the background asking Eurydice if he could speak to me.
"NO you creep" I hear her say
It's been exactly 2 weeks since we last spoke.
"Eurydice are you still there."I ask?
"Yes were was I? Oh yeah as I was saying Ares isn't himself anymore. He didn't even go out on his 18th bithday. All he did was bulk up. I swear he's gained 20 pounds of muscle.
"That's good for him" I say
"No it's not. I know you and him don't get along, but I need you to come over right now and help him get out of his little funk. I swear he's on his man period."
"I can't I'm sick. Cough, Cough"
"Please come over. I swear I won't ask for anymore favors."
"Ok." I say finally giving in
