'Dear Diary,
I finally had a peaceful week, no crazy notes from my ex-boyfriend, my brother has been, well he's being a protective older brother I mean come on that's all he's ever going to be anymore. My birthday is tomorrow, six years since daddy passed away, I miss him, I hope I make him proud. Well anyway, I heard we're getting new neighbors in a couple days. Also, John and Sarah are out of town again, it seems like they are never home, I mean I am thankful they could foster both me and Danny but Danny's eighteen, he promised me he's going to get us an apartment but we don't have the money for that. I know we have to leave foster care soon because John and Sarah don't have to look after Danny anymore, he's an adult, so that means I'm out of foster care too because Danny would not leave me in this house to practically care for myself. I just really hope everything works out for us because we need each other.

I hear a knocking at my bedroom door, "come in" I say as I slide my journal under my bed. Danny walks in holding a small box in his hands. He comes over and sits on my bed and smiles but it's a shy smile, he sighs " okay, look I know your birthday is tomorrow but I want to give you your present today, so ... here." I take the box and slowly open it and inside is a beautiful silver locket, oh my gosh. " oh Danny, it's beautiful, it must have cost a fortune." he smiles .
"It doesn't matter how much it cost, look inside." I open the locket and inside is a picture of me and Danny. I hug Danny so tight I might accidentally squeeze the life out of him.
" Thank you Danny, I love it."
" It's so no matter where you are I will always be with you no matter what and you're welcome, now get ready for school."
