Veronica's P.O.V "Hey Aaron," I say as I let in one of my best friends. "Hey Veronica, are you guys ready?" he asks as he walks in. "Yeah, Vanessa is just getting her stuff" " Can I ask you something important?" "Of course, what's up?" "I really like Vanessa, think I should ask her out?" I was shocked, I really liked Aaron and I knew Vanessa did too. I stood there speechless, he was only visiting us in California. We couldn't visit him in Missouri since we were only 18 and he was 20. He must really like her then, if he was willing to come visit us just to ask her out. I wasn't about to about to sabotage Vanessa's chance with an amazing guy just because I liked him. "Umm... Veronica?" He said waving his hand in my face. "Oh.. Yeah... You should go for it, I know she really likes you," I say trying to hide the pain in my face. "Cool, thanks Veronica" he says as he hugs me. " Nnnn...nnoo... Problem" I respond in the hug, clearly trying to hide my tears. " what's wrong" "It's nothing, there's just so much in my head right now" "Oh, you'll get through it, just talk to me or text me when you need someone. You just remember you always have a 2 best friends, Vanessa and I, who will never leave your side." He said smiling at me. If only he knew how I felt. "Hey guys, Sorry I took so long Tiger was trying to hide my phone," she said chuckling "Oh my gosh, Veronica are you ok?" She asked worried. "Yeah, I'm fine, I was overwhelmed with some stuff but Aaron helped me," "Okay I m glad you're better, should we head out now" "I think I'm gonna stay back, my head is still kind of spinning," I say slightly smiling at Aaron. " are you sure?" He asks with a look that says , thank you so much. You're the best. "Yeah, I don't want hold you guys back from fun, have fun for me" "If you're sure" Vanessa says kind of nervously. I know she's nervous, she likes Aaron as much as I do. We've been best friends with him forever. She told me she liked him a year ago when we moved here to California. I never told her I liked him after she told me. We never keep secrets from each other, but we have also never fought so I kept that one to myself. "Yeah, I'll see you guys later, tell me what happens" They wave as they walk out the door and into our car. When I know they couldn't see me, I ran to my room and cried in my bed. Vanessa was a lucky girl and Aaron is a lucky guy. I know I can't have him but it doesn't mean it hurts any less. I know I'm going to have to listen to Vanessa when she talks about her day with Aaron, as I wish it was me. I'll find someone eventually , after all I just turned 18 a few days ago.
