Freedom Hunters

Chapter 7

--- That is not all I have packed to take you out. In the ship behind you, there is a Corrupted, a human turned monster so powerful that it is used only as last resort to defeat your opponents in war. --- Borgh then looked at his intercom and shouted --- Release the Corrupted!

The ship opened up quickly and showed a fit purple monster twice the size of a normal human, all covered in fur to protect his skin, and with big, sharp teeth that could cut through anything. The monster was rattling inside it's cage and the moment it laid eyes on Start, it started punching the cage to get out. Start was now afraid. He wasn't acting anymore. He looked at Borgh and said:

--- I know what you are doing Borgh. You are not a commander from Epsilon's military force. You are part of the bounty hunter revolution and you are trying to take Epsilon down. --- Said Start with desperate eyes --- Stop this madness because that thing is going to kill me if it comes out of that cage!

--- What!? --- Said Coth and Borgh in unison

--- Yes! You were talking yesterday night about how I am not worthy of entering the revolution and needed to prove myself! What else do you want? Do you want me to die?

--- Stop the opening of the cage! I repeat, STOP the opening of the cage! Don't let the Corrupted out!

But it was too late, the Corrupted saw the little open area of the cage and, with it's massive strength, pushed open the cage. He roared as he got out of the spaceship and ran towards Start filled with anger. The spaceships instantly took off so that they wouldn't get smashed by the huge purple creature, but Start was frozen in fear and didn't know what to do, but suddenly, his instincts took over. He quickly rolled to the side and made the Corrupted run past him. The monster tried to slow down but he lost balance and tripped over. This gave Start enough time to run over to one of the plasma rifles and shoot at it's head, but it didn't do anything to the monster. Borgh then shouted from above him:

--- The plasma rifles aren't real! They throw a clump of pain! We wouldn't use real plasma on you!

Start was running out of ideas and out of time because, sooner or later, the Corrupted was going to catch on to him and smash him into little pieces. Start then remembered he had a real weapon in his wrist: the laser. He quickly activated it and fired at the now standing monster. The first shot didn't do much to it, but after a few shots in the leg, the monster started slowing down and, after emptying all of the batteries from the communicator, the Corrupted fell on the ground tired and wounded. The spaceships quickly came down, retrieved the abomination, and put him back in his cage. Coth ran out of his spaceship to hug Start:

--- Are you ok?

--- Yeah... I am only a little bit tired...

--- Oh ok. Good. Now that we are safe... --- Said Coth looking around and checking that the Corrupted was now in it's cage --- What were you thinking!? Facing the soldiers and the Corrupted when you could have told me earlier that you had heard my conversation with Borgh! You played along and almost got yourself killed and...

--- Enough! --- Said Borgh behind him. --- The kid did good. He proved to be a really good and resourceful fighter that thought of his possibilities. He isn't dumb for telling you that you weren't a careful enough bounty hunter to watch if you were being spied on. He was brave enough to go through the entire initiation process, tricking everyone, including master bounty hunters, into thinking he didn't know anything about what was going on, and defeated a Corrupted one in record time. I feel like he did an amazing job.

--- Well... ! Well... You are right... Great job, Start!

--- Thanks. I have one question though... Where is Miram?
