I was home alone yesterday for the millionth time. My parents were supposed to be gone for a few hours and come home at night. They told me to take a shower as soon as they left and that if I didnt I would be grounded and I would not be allowed to stay home alone ever again. Of course I disobeyed my parents as soon as they left and I went to the living room to watch T.V. I turned on the T.V. and began watching Netflix. I opened American Horror Story and binged. A few hours passed by and it was 8:00 pm. During the credits of an episode i heard a knock on the door.
I lived in a 2 story house, not including the basement. I walked upstairs to my room and looked out my window because I wasn't allowed to open the front door. There was nobody there. I assumed it was some of the annoying kids from my school playing Ding-Dong Ditch. I began walking away from the window. Before I walked out my room I heard a knock on the door again. I ran to my window to maybe catch them in the act, but to my surprise there was no one there. I brushed it off and went back downstairs.
I entered the living room and played the next episode of Coven. In the middle of the episode I looked at the time and realized my parents were about to be home, so i turned it off.
I ran to the bathroom upstairs and turned on the water to take a shower. As i was washing out the shampoo from my hair i heard a faint creeak in the wood floor outside the bathroom door. I opened my eyes and shampoo accidentally seeped in. It stung and burned my eyes. I immediately got out of the shower and cleaned my eye out with my towel and some water. I got back in completely forgetting about the creak in the wood.
As i was finishing up, about to dry myself, I heard the noise again. CREEEAK. But it sounded closer and louder this time. I stayed in the bathroom sitting on the rug, unsure of where the noise came from. I waited about 20 minutes before i got out.
I got out of my bathroom with my towel wrapped around myself and quickly headed to change in my bedroom. Right when I was about to leave my room I heard a knock on the door once again. I looked out my window... nobody. There was nobody there. At this point i was a bit freaked out.
So I began walking to go down the stairs. My house was an almost unnerving kind of quiet. There was no noise at all, so any sound made was amplified by a thousand. As I walked down the stairs I heard every creak in the floor boards as if it was played on a speaker. It was killing me slowly. I just ran down the stairs in annoyance and fear. I'd never felt like this and i was terrified.
I jumped onto the couch and under the soft, warm covers. I turned on the television and started watching SpongeBob SquarePants on Nickelodeon. During a commercial i texted my mom.
Me: Mom where are you guys?!
Mom: We might be home a bit later than we anticipated. Sorry honey
Me: But whyyyyyy?!!! This is getting scary. I keep hearing noises!!!
Mom: Its ok honey. You're fine. And your father and I are stuck in traffic because someone got into a very bad accident.
Me: Please hurry!
Mom: Bye honey.
I honestly felt like my mom didnt care about the fact that i was practically having an anxiety attack.
SpongeBob finally started up again.
I turned up the volume when I heard a loud alarm. It blasted through the halls and rooms in my house. I had no idea where the hell it was coming from. I didn't even want to know. After all the creaks and knocking I was too horrified to move. I just stayed sat on the couch under the covers and turned up the volume. It sounded like I was having my own personal concert at home. I bet the neighbors could hear the T.V., but i didnt care. I had to drown out the alarm and the noises everywhere somehow.
Eventually the alarm turned off and I lowered the volume a bit. It was 12:47 exactly and I was too afraid to go to sleep. I kept watching television and I kept gazing at the clock wondering when my parents would return home. At a certain point I noticed the stove clock had stopped at exactly 1:07 am. I turned towards the clock on the wall and it had stopped on the same time as well. I looked at my dads watch on the coffee table... same thing. I froze. I stared at the stove clock, for what felt for like hours on end, waiting for it to change. None of them moved.
I felt a chill on my neck. It felt like someone dragged their long nails on my neck. I freaked out and immediatley turned around in terror. I layed back into the couch and just watched T.V. I hugged all of the toss pillows on the couch. I sank into all the pillows, the couch, and the blanket. I raised the volume as high as it could go. I was so scared and I couldnt hide it. Which meant if there was someone watching... they knew I was vulnerable.
