Chapter 1

The click of my heels eco through the empty halls. It's dead silent. If you listen hard enough you might just hear the walls breathe.

I make my way to my boss' office. A light flickers down the hall. Sending a chill down my spine.

After for walking what seemed like mile I reach her office. I take a deep breath and knock.

"Come in."
I open the door. The hinges creek. The sound filters through the hall, until the eco becomes a whisper.

"You called?" I say and push the door close behind me.

"Ah, yes! Harleen! I wanted to talk to you about a patient."
I a smile works its way onto my face. I haven't got a patient yet. I've just been helping out.

"Yes, the doctor who worked with him, well, he quit." She continues. "Leaving me with a patient without a doctor. And I thought I might give you a chance."

"Oh, thank you, ma'am! Thank you!"

"I am glad you're excited. The files will be on your desk tomorrow. You'll probably start with the sessions tomorrow, too. I'll see you then, Miss Quinzel."

I smile. I open the door to leave. The henges creek even louder. Before I'm completely out of the door, I turn around.

"Who is my patient?" I ask. I don't recall that she mentioned his name.

"The Joker."
