Prologue: Ready
New Year's Eve, 2249
11:58 p.m.
Jayce's POV
I looked up at Kane, one hundred percent ready to give myself to him. My parents were at the neighbors', which gave us some alone time. Kane didn't know what was going to happen, so I waited until 11:59 and for the ball in New York City start to descend before leaning over to whisper in his ear:
“I'm ready.”
Kane looked at me in surprise and smiled. He had told me a few months ago that he was ready to have sex with me, but would patiently wait until I was ready.
“Really? Are you sure?” At my nod, he started pulling away from the cuddled position we had taken up on the couch. He leaned down and kissed me passionately, practically ripping our clothes off.
At exactly midnight, when the people in Times Square were cheering on the New Year, I gave myself to the love of my life.
