"So," Odell mumbled chewing on some mouth gear as we pulled up to my residence, "Can I getcha numba'?"
My throat got dry. Man, I really wish he'd stop talking. He was fairly attractive, and the way he smiled, and laughed, and even talked to me made me blush. I was sorta shy, indeed. But, Odell made me feel like a nerd a bit. Which I sorta am. He makes it hard for me to look him in the eyes, and speak sometimes.
"I don't have a number." I finally choked out. "Or a cellphone for that matter."
He looked at me strangely for a bit. Removing the mouth piece, he gently bit down on his lip thoughtfully.
"What's tomorrow babygirl?"
"Saturday."
He smiled a little bit.
"Be ready by one tomma' I wanna take ya somewhea'." He simply stated. And I only nodded before thanking him and getting out of the vehicle. He waited until I was well inside before driving off.
"Daadee ma!"
Hindi translation: grandmother.
I groaned sighing spotting my grandmother in the window, watching as Odell drove away. She had a huge grin on her face as she stepped away apologizing briefly.
"I'm sorry. But, I was already looking out of the window an d I seen this expensive car pull up and I seen you step out of it and I couldn't stop watching!" She smiled grabbing my hands as I looked at her slightly shorter figure. "Is that your boyfriend."
"Goodness no! He's just a nice boy I met earlier, his name is Odell he's my friend." I spoke smiling a little.
"Well-"
"He?" My grandfather spoke coming from the kitchen fiddling with a seemed to be broken white device.
"Daada. Baalee kya hai?" I asked tilting my head to the side.
Hindi translation: grandfather. What is that?
"Potee." He smiled kindly and then frowned at the sight of the device. "I had bought you a cellphone. But, I have seemed to break it. I should've just wait until you got here, so we can figure out how to work it together."
"It's fine Daada. I appreciate you spending your money on me. But, I really don't need a cellphone as of now." I smiled kindly walking over to him.
His kind light brown eyes glared at me as he smiled. "Now, who is this 'he' we were talking about?"
I shook my head grinning, "His name is Odell. He is merely just a friend. In fact, he is taking me somewhere tomorrow."
My grandmother gushed and smiled. Meanwhile, my grandfathers eyebrows arched.
"I would like to meet this Odell." He mumbled. "Tomorrow. I would like to be alerted when he comes."
And he vanished into the kitchen.
