"Can I play too?"

I had asked the same question so many times that soon it hadn't been because I wanted to play, it was just a force of habit. But I had always gotten the same answer over and over; "Ummm we've actually gotta go home now." And then they'd run off, with all my hopes and dreams that one day might bring me back into the reality that isn't a living hell for me.

As I walked home I noticed so many children running home to waiting parents, their dinner still hot and ready, to be eaten. I had never had that, I was always the outcast. I never knew why.

I didn't have a normal house like all the other kids, a house with clean shiny windows and beautifully painted artwork hung across all walls. My house was a little bit different, the windows -most of them broken- we're dirty and barely see-through-able. Dust racked up in every corner imaginable, and broken glass was scattered across the living room floor. My bedroom was just as bad; each wall was a different color -one red, one black, one gray, and one white- my bed was just a cheap cot with almost every stain imaginable. I had only held few things in my room like dump; my bed, a very small desk, and a backpack with a few belongings in it, I never had much. But I had always gotten by, my little ownings were just enough to keep me going.

I threw myself onto my "bed" crying as once again, I was treated like a monster and a freak. Treated like I was nothing more then a piece off garbage. I leaned over screaming and cursing everyone, "I'M NOT A MONSTER!" I screamed until I ripped my throat raw. Crying onto my arms, I had noticed that my tears had turned into black vines. I screamed as the dark vines made their way up my arms. They wrapped around my arms and tightened until they sunk into my skin. At that point, my hands had started shaking. I was terrified, my blood pumped through my veins, running cold as the vines slowly started to become tattoos on my arms.

I cried -only being 5- as I was terrified of what would come of this. It had hurt, it was like someone took a piece of barbed wire and pushed it into my arms. I couldn't breathe, all the blood rushing to my arms to stop it, leaving little for my brain I process everything. Thoughts rushed into my mind, terrible images flashed before my eyes. It was as if... Someone's memories, fears, and thoughts were being seared into my soul. I screamed louder and the vines' movement came to an end. Blood was pouring from my arms, writing was displayed across my left arm. One word crossed my wrist on a vine that stuck out like a sore thumb;

Demon

1 Year Later

It had been one year since that day, my thoughts had been clouded ever since. I was so confused, I didn't know what any of this meant. From then on I had tried to cover the tattoos. I tried covering them with a shirt, but they somehow printed themselves' onto everything I wore. If I covered them a voice in my head would scream at me, black ink would seep into the cloth and print the tattoos onto the fabric. I remembered that one day I just stopped trying. I tore the sleeves of one of my shirts off and just showed them. I didn't care anymore. It wasn't like the villagers would treat me any different. I was still a monster, an outcast... A Demon
