"Izzie!"
I was snapped out of my daydream by a hand waving in front of my face and the voice of my best friend, and my possible soul mate. See, everyone got their soul mate's name basically engraved in their mind when they were born. It was only their first name, but usually it was enough. I was the first kid to ever have two names in my brain. My parents told me to keep it a secret, to pick one name and not mention the other. I never understood why, and it wasn't until a year ago that I realized no one else had two soul mates.
"Huh? Sorry, what were you saying?" I blinked a few times fast to get my bearings back. I was in my room, studying with Lilly and not doing anything else. Simply studying.
Lilly laughed and nudged me, "you're thinking about Theodor aren't you?" She shimmied her shoulders and I groaned,
"No! I'm just...." I sighed, I couldn't tell her I had been thinking about her. Lilly and her beautiful wavy auburn hair that was so long, I swore at times she was Rapunzel, but she always cut it back to the middle of her stomach. Her eyes were a striking dark grey. Although she insisted I was better looking, I always thought we were pretty close in the beauty level, with my straight, strawberry blond hair that I liked to keep above my shoulders, and grass green eyes.
"... Even though it's pretty evident that he likes you." I heard the end of what I assumed was one of Lilly's rants of how This or that guy had a major crush on me.
"Yeah yeah, I'm sure all the guys are just tripping over themselves to get a date with me." I rolled my eyes and fell back onto my bed.
"No not every guy... But a lot of them! Come on, Izzie! You can't say you don't have some sort of attraction to someone other than Theodor!"
You're probably asking, who the heck is Theodor? He's gotta be the most popular guy I have no chance with right? No, surprisingly he's not. He's actually someone that's a freshman as well, and I went to school with him for eight years, this would be the ninth, and I've developed a bit of a crush on him. I could date him, we are actually pretty close, but his name isn't one of my soul mates' names and if I dated him, well, it's kinda illegal. They don't want people getting married that technically 'aren't supposed' to get married. I'm a lot safer with keeping the idea going around that my one and only soul mates name is Ricardo, and only really Lilly knows that. It's like any secret I suppose. Some people are more careful with it than others.
"Well I haven't met a Ricardo-"
"I still think your soul mate could be Ricardo Ponskey!"
"Like I could eventually ever date and marry a famous actor." I snorted as Lilly fell in the purple bed sheets beside me.
"It's not so far fetched! It's only a year difference. You just need to go to one Red Carpet premiere then the ship could sail from there!"
"Just keep dreaming, Lilly." I reached over and picked up the homework we were supposed to be doing, "now why don't we finish figuring out these equations and graphs."
