"Let's go. Hurry." I told my little brother as I gently tugged the shaking boy away by the wrists. I kept myself alert of every movement I saw as I warily looked around, not minding the cold air wanting to make me shake.

I removed my scarf and wrapped it gingerly around Kevin's neck to keep him stay warm for it was the least I could do as of now. Being sure that the enemy was nowhere insight for the moment, I tugged Kevin along as we made our way through the dark alleys here in New York.

It was winter and we were both numb from the cold. White specks of snow kept on falling down from above as we walked to nowhere in particular just to get away from the place as fast as possible with our winter boots sinking into the snow for about three inches deep.

Darkness enveloped everything and the only light available were coming from the street lamps and the ones coming from inside the houses. If ever Kevin was envious of the family inside who might be having a comfortable place by the fire, he said nothing.

"Are you hungry?" I asked him as I sat down by a bench under a tree. He immediately snuggled close to me for further warmth as he sheepishly nodded and no sooner had he done that that I heard his growling stomach.

I chuckled and reached into my jacket, for two apples I have bought earlier in the day for the two of us, if we were to run into a situation such as this and it proved to be always needed.

He eagerly reached for one and began biting into it right away hungrily as I did the same, letting the taste explode in my mouth. I may be able to buy us proper meals but we barely have the chance to go to a store and eat properly without some certain people hot on our tails. Man they were persistent.

"Big sister, you won't let them catch us right?" Kevin suddenly asked making my head snap towards him. "Never." I said with a firm tone which made him smile.

I am just 17 years old, and he was just 10. We are both orphans. Mother Hayne from the orphanage told me when I was old enough that she just saw us on the steps of the orphanage one night. I was seven by that time and Kevin was just a baby.

Strangely, I knew nothing, remembered nothing. It happened in a cold winter night such as this and we both grow up just fine in the orphanage, but since... we weren't somewhat normal.... Me being able to make objects move with my will, and my brother having the ability to control water.... we were soon discovered. By scientists I mean.

Mother Hayne knew the dangers of being captured... That's why she gave us a lot of money, sending us off before those evil men in white cloaks could get their hands on us and that's how we ended up here. It was just three days ago but time felt so slow it felt a year----

"Big Sister! They're here!" Kevin's scared shout made me snap back to reality. Just in time, I saw the lab men a good ten meters away with armed men behind them. I cursed under my breath then before pulling Kevin up.

"Wait! Stop!" I heard one shout in the silence of the night but I merely ignored the call for I was no fool and we dashed for the forest.

With the light coming from the pen light I had in my hands, we stumbled our way through in the forest, not minding if the darkness enveloped us from all directions.

We never stopped.. We kept on running. We moved on as fast as we could, as long as we could. When Kevin said he couldn't go on anymore and his knees failed him did we finally stop.

"We'll rest for now and move again later." I announced and he just nodded at me as he sat against the bark of a tree. Meanwhile, I looked around, the stillness of the night unwavering except the swishing of the wind and swaying of branches. I guess we lost them for now.

But that doesn't mean that they're far. I'll just let Kevin catch his breath before we move on.

And just as I was about to sit down next to Kevin, a moving figure caught my eyes. I stood up abruptly and scanned my surrounding with my eyes. There's something else... out there.

"Muriel... What was that?" I didn't even notice that Kevin had gotten up and was clinging by my arm already. I pulled him closer to me as we both sharpened our senses. Kevin had already set up his ability as I on the other hand searched for anything to use as a weapon when an inhuman screech echoed into the night.

Basing from the place it came from... I looked at Kevin and he did the same, his bright sapphire eyes hiding their real colors and widening. Together, we slowly looked above us.
