Mouse

Quiet and timid,

Busy and shy.

Hiding along,

Glancing at the sky.

Eat, eat.

Scurry, scurry.

Look, look.

Hurry, hurry.

Watch for danger.

Run away!

Back to the den.

There to stay.

Fattening up

For the long winter's cold.

Eating, eating, eating,

Before the ice takes hold.

Sleeping through winter,

Curled up tight.

Not to wake again,

'Till spring has shed its light.
