The Teacher was calling roll. This was new to young Isaac. Back in middle school his teachers had all knew his name because his older siblings had been in all their classes, but his family recently moved to Georgia due to stress and family issues. His mother had divorced his father and his siblings had chosen to stay with his father. Isaac was never the biggest fan of his father, so he decided it would be best if he went with his mother instead.
"Isaac Matthews" the teacher called.
"Here" Isaac squeaked, he was so nervous he didn't even have enough control his own voice to avoid it from squeaking. He could hear the kids across the room laughing at him. All the other kids had bloomed sooner than he did. Isaac had always been really insecure about himself but now that everyone was hitting puberty it had became way worse. He didn't have a chance of making a friend this year, and maybe even in his entire high school career.
Class had finally began and it seemed to inch by, so boring and repetitive. The teacher seemed to only repeat himself over and over again. School was something Isaac was never the biggest fan of, but he tolerated it anyways. His day seemed to be going downhill because the only time he had spoke all day was when teachers called roll, therefore making his first day, a complete failure. The whole week had gone by like that. He never really spoke unless absolutely necessary, which wasn't often.
It was Monday at lunch. He had found a corner of the cafeteria that no one ever really sat at, so he had made that his home. He sat there, listening to Logic and eating his cold cafeteria pizza. He felt someone's eyes on him so he looked up slightly and saw someone staring at him. In fact, they were sitting right in front of him. Her hands propping her head up, her deep blue eyes seemingly staring into his soul, her bleach blond hair up in a bun and her skin looked so smooth. She started talking but he still had his headphones in so he fumbled and took them out and asked
"What did you say?"
"I said.." OKAY PAUSE he thought, her voice is so, gorgeous.
"Yes? No?" She said sarcastically.
"I'm sorry what?" Isaac felt so guilty. This was the third time she'd say whatever she had to say.
"I was asking what you were listening to."
"Oh um, Logic. He's a rapper." Isaac looked down at his phone and clicked pause.
"I've never hear of him before." She poked her fork at her lunch tray.
"I'm sorry, but why are you talking to me?" Isaac had asked, immediately regretting it, but he was genuinely curious. He hadn't seen her before in his classes, in fact, he hadn't seen her at all. Not around the halls, in class, in the cafeteria.
"I noticed you were always alone so I decided to come talk to you. I was just trying to be nice." She set her fork down and looked down at her lap.
"I'm sorry it's just, you're so, you. And I'm so, me. It didn't seem logical."
"All I asked was what you were listening to, I didn't say I was madly in love with you." She grinned at him and Isaac chuckled. This was good for him. He actually laughed. At something a girl said.
The school bell rang, identifying that it was time to begin class again.
"I'll see you again tomorrow yeah?" Isaac asked, going out in a limb.
"You sure will." She said smiling. As he walked to class, he noticed he didn't even know her name. He pulled his phone out his pocket to wrap up a his headphones and a little paper fell out. He picked it up and it read:

Isaac smiled to himself. He had finally made a friend.
