What I am about to tell you is not so much a story but more of a bizarre event that happened to me in my childhood.
This event, to me, was my first encounter with something of the supernatural sense which I had not forgotten about even till this day.
Growing up, my parents and I lived in a council tower block on the outskirts on London, England.
I was a very small child at the time of this event but I remember lying in my crib and seeing a silhouette of a man through my bedroom curtains climbing up the exterior of my window in a spiderman-like motion and pausing directly outside my window, staring in at me through the curtains.
I could not identify who the man was (or even if it was a man) - since it was only a shadow through the curtains I saw. But he seemed fascinated in watching me so much that he hummed eerily whenever I made any movement in my crib.
The humming became more aggressive when he saw me climbing out of my crib and head towards my parent's room next door who were both sleeping at the time.
Now, what made this event more haunting to me was not only the fact that there was a strange man hanging outside my window, humming; but a strange man hanging outside my window nine floors up and humming to me whilst I laid in my crib.
And from what I can remember, the exterior of our apartment building was not possible to climb without any professional climbing equipment. And from what I remember, this guy had none.
Years later I came to the conclusion that what I saw that night was a ghost.
Who's ghost? I do not know.
Why my apartment? I do not know that either.
But as I grew older, the silhouetted man would still visit me as I lay in bed. But this time, only when I closed my eyes.
The visions of him coming towards me in a slow, dream-like fashion whenever I closed my eyes became nothing more than a distant memory the older I grew. And now as an adult looking back on these strange events; I believe that what I saw growing up was probably the Boogeyman himself. And what the Boogeyman wanted WAS ME.
