➵ Chapter Six

Joey smiled like an idiot. "Really?"
"Sure, why not?" Daniel joked.
Joey laughed and rested his chin on his palm.
"So, when's your mom coming home?" Daniel asked, sitting down on the bed.
"Um," he said. "It was supposed to be an hour ago."
"Oh." Daniel replied. "Where would she be?"
Joey shrugged. "I guess she's still at work."
"Oh, okay." Daniel said, standing back up to stretch. "I think I should g-"
"No, don't leave, please." Joey coughed.
Daniel turned around, looking at Joey with tired eyes.
"But Joey, I have to go home. My roommate will start to get worried."
"Fine," Joey mumbled.
Daniel sighed and grabbed his purse. "I'll see you tomorrow, angel."
Joey lazily lifted his hand to signal a goodbye. "I'll see you too, I guess."

*the next day @ lunch*

Joey sat down at the table with a few of his friends. Connor, Troye, Tyler, and Landon.
"Joey! Where were you yesterday?" Connor asked, sitting in front of Joey.
"I had an, um, doctor's appointment." He lied.
"Ohhh." Connor replied, along with everyone else.
"So," Tyler said with a smirk. "Who's that hottie over there?"
Everybody turned in Tyler's direction.
"Oh, that's Daniel," Joey said smiling. "And he is definitely a hottie."
Troye smirked. "Oooooh, are you guys a thing?"
Landon rolled his eyes. "Duh, have you not seen them? They've gone home together three times already."
Joey shook his head. "No, we're just friends. I was just walking him home..."
"Whatever." Landon replied, getting up to throw his trash away. "But you know you love him!"

*an hour later*

"Psst."
Joey turned around. "What?"
"You're looking cute today, angel."
"Shut up."
"No."
Daniel shrugged and looked back at the teacher, completely ignoring everything she says.
Joey turned back around and smiled.
"I really do love him." He thought, accidentally out loud.
"Do you?" Daniel whispered.
"Shut it, pig."
