Chapter 2

Month later,

Ambers POV

I have lived in Chicago a little over a month and we where about to go on break for
Christmas. My old history teacher was guilty and was in jail. We got a new one named Alaric Salztmen (Some of you get that name. If you do yes, if you don't watch The Vampire Diaries) he was nice. It was after school and I was just walking to the station, I got there kinda of late since I was staying after for history. I got there and Trudy said "Hi Amber. I got you snack since I know you hungry after school." I smiled and said "Thank you Trudy." The snack was a bag a gold fish my favorite. I got upstairs, I saw no one there but I went to the break room and did my homework which was a lot, I didn't get all done by the time we had to leave. Once we got home I continued to do my homework and finally got it done. I said "Jay, I'm hungry." He nodded and said "Well I am making a classic Minnesota dish, tater tot hot dish." I smiled since he knew that was my favorite. I quickly changed into my pajamas which where some old pajamas pants and a t-shirt and sweatshirt. I threw my hair up, it was time for dinner and I heard the door, Jay got it and it was Erin. I smiled and said "Hi, Erin." She smiled and said "Hi, Amber when do you go on break?" I said "Friday so tomorrow it out last day." I finished and then got in the shower, I got out and picked out my outfit for school, I decided on my old Track sweatshirt and some black nike sweatpants. My track sweatshirt was black with red and blue lettering that said Husky Track and Field in the front, then on the back it says Halstead. I brushed my hair and decided to put it in braids so then it's kinda of curly. I came out and I didn't see Erin anymore. I went to Jay and said "I know you like Erin everyone knows go ask her Jay." He said "I can't Hank won't let us." I nodded I went to my room and started watching Netflix. By the time it was 10 I was tried so I put my computer away and turned off my phone and fell asleep. I woke up to my alarm going off, I got up and got dressed took my hair out of the braids, I slipped on my Nike socks, then headed to the kitchen got some breakfast which was frosted mini wheats and some grapes. I quickly ate them went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth, I quickly made sure I had everything in my backpack, I grabbed my phone and my charger for it. I slipped on my purple and black Nike's. Grabbed my winter coat and hat. I saw Jay and he said "Ready?" I nodded it was a half day so. We got into his car, once we got to school I jumped out and said "By Jay. See you after school love you." He drove off and I headed to my locker dropped off my backpack and got my stuff for my first part of the day. I walked to my home room, the teacher is my first hour also. I sat down in my usual spot and we had free time so I decided to watch some Netflix on my phone. Before I knew it, I was able to go home. I started to walk to the station. Once I got there I went upstairs and Jay said "Umm, we are going to be here for a while, so you can either got to the hospital or go home." I nodded and decided to go to the Hospital "Okay, I'll go to the hospital since I haven't seen will." He nodded I hugged him and said "By Love you." I said "By Hank." I walked out of the station and started to walk to the hospital, I got there 5 minutes later, I walked in and saw Will I said "Hi Will." He gave me hug and said "Hi Amber. My shift is going to end in 5 minutes okay." I nodded and sat down by Maggie. We talked then Will said "Okay let's go." We were walking to his car when I slipped on ice. I got up and said "Well there is Ice there." He laughed I climbed into the back of the car. We drove to his house, I got inside and said "What are we doing for dinner?" He said "How I about I make spaghetti." I nodded and turned on the TV, I heard the door open and it was Jay, he came over and sat by me and started to tickle me and I said "Stop." Dinner was done and we quickly ate. Then I hugged Will and said "By, see you soon. Stay out of trouble." He hugged me back and kissed my head. Jay and I headed back to the apartment. Once we got there, I sat on the coach and turned on home alone. We were watching it then I remembered "Jay are we going to see there graves tomorrow since it's almost Christmas." He said "Yes, all of us are." I nodded I started to fall asleep. I woke up the nest morning in my bed. I got in the shower washed my body and my hair. I got dressed in my black and pink army sweatshirt, with my dad's dog tags, I had my American flag bracelet. I got my moms pins from her job. I slipped on some jeans with my moms boots. I let my hair air dry then I brushed it. We headed to the car. When we got to the cemetery I saw Will, My grandma Heather and my grandfather Mike (I couldn't find the real names of the parents of Jay's so I made up some). We walked to their graves. I set down my moms favorite kind of flowers white roses, I said "Mom, I know you can here my right now. I know you are super proud of me. I love you and I hope to see you soon. Don't worry I'm keeping Jay and Will in check." They all laughed. The reason why my last name is Halstead is because my dad wanted to change his instead of keeping Williams. I walked over to my dads and put his favorite type of flowers which are daisy's it said they reminded him of his grandmother. I put them down and said
"Dad, I kept your dog tags and will always keep them. Your flag is hanging up in my room. Dad you always taught me to be strong and to make sure to be safe. I know you can here my and I know you are proud. I love you." I walked away with tears in my eyes, I didn't realize how tough this is, how my parents met, is Jay and my dad where on the same army base. We walked away I was holding on to Will's and Jay's hand. We had a group hug, this is my family and my parents will always be my family. We walked back to the district, since Christmas was tomorrow. Christmas Eve we would go to Hank's house then everyone from the district would come then some people from the hospital. I went and sat at Jays desk he saw me and said "Hey, that's my desk." I said "Not anymore I'm the new detective get lost." Everyone laughed he picked me up and started to tickle me.

Christmas Eve

I woke up  it was around 8:30 and I decided to stay in bed and wait. I watched some Netflix then I decided that I should probably get up, I got up and got dressed in some blue skinny jeans that where medium washed, then I got a maroon long sleeve shirt. I decided to curl my hair, after my hair was done I got some black socks on then headed to the living room, I saw that Jay was dressed in a grey long sleeve shirt with his leather jacket, some dark wash jeans and his black work boots. I went over to him and hugged him and said "My mom would be so proud of me and so would my dad." He hugged me and said "Yes they would. But right now all you can do it just celebrate the life you had with them." I nodded it was about 3 and we decided we would go over there to see everyone. I got my winter jacket on with my moms boots. We loaded in the car and headed over there. Once we got there I set my presents down for everyone by the tree, I went to Hank and asked "Where would you like me to put my coat?" He said "Um stairs in Erin's old room." I nodded and I went up there and put it there, I came back down and sat down on the coach and was on my phone. Hank came over and picked me up, threw me on his shoulder, I said "Excuse me but I am not a sack of flour." Then Antonio came over and tickled me I laughed and laughed until I was slipping, I said "I'm slipping help." Adam was fast enough and got me, I said "Gosh these boys don't know how to listen." Erin laughed and said "Amen sister." We all sat down at the table I sat down next to Hank and Justin his son, we had turkey, mash potatoes and much more. I ate and then cleaned my plate, once everyone was done we all sat in the living room and opened presents, the order went Daniel who's 2 now, (I know Justin is dead but in this story he is alive.) Diego, Vanessa, Eva, Me, Lexi. For the kids then for the adults Adam, Jay, Kim, Sean, Will, Natalie, Maggie, Erin, Antonio, Kevin, Alvin, Mouse, Justin, Olive, Sharon, Hank. I got a lot for Christmas which I was surprised, from Jay and Will I got my one of the last family photos we all took. I also got one of my at my parents grave. From Erin I got a necklace with a hockey stick, track shoe, and a softball glove. Antonio he gave me all six season of glee. From Adam he got my a  Chicago Blackhawks shirt. Kim got me a batman sweatshirt, Kevin a wild hat, Alvin perfume, Mouse a phone case, Justin and Olive a blanket with my parents names and mine. Hank he got me a star named Madison, he also gave me a locket with a family picture and on the back it said "Always to remember." I hugged everyone and then we headed home. Once we got home Jay said "Okay you can open one present." I nodded he picked out my present it was a pair of batman pajama pants and then a batman shirt, for Jay I got him Olaf pajama pants and a black shirt. I made some hot cocoa and we headed to bed. I woke up the next morning around 8:30. I went out in the living room, Jay was up and he said "So we are going to open presents from each other then we are going to my moms and dads house for presents later okay." I nodded I sat down on the floor with a blanket, I did my stocking first. In my stocking I got some batman gloves, Olaf socks, some lotion and gift cards. Now for actual presents, I got two pairs a jeans, Nike sweatpants, under armour sweats pants, sweatshirts. I also got a iPad mini which i was surprised. We ate some breakfast which was pancakes, then I got dressed in jeans with a black and white flannel with a white Shawn amended shirt under it, I had my hair straighten, I got some real socks with my black and silver vans. We got in the car, headed over there. We ate and then did presents, I got socks, slippers, new softball batting gloves, I got some clothes which where just tank tops and underwear. Then I got tickets to Shawn Mendes with VIP. I screamed and said "Thank you." After presents we watched some movies then we headed home. I went straight to bed.

How was that? I am likely this fanfic, I will be trying to update as much as I can, I have school coming up soon. But I will try okay. Thank you for reading
