Getting over a guy is hard. True story. I mean, that's what you guys were reading right? About my story?
Yeah, anyways, back to the topic at hand. Rose here, if you didn't already realize.
Connor was just a crush. True, a very prominent one, but still, it wasn't like I loved him.
Still, it's hard to delete these feelings permanently from your brain.
So here's how I attempted to push mine for Connor away. I must say, it worked pretty well.
First of all, I distracted myself from anything that reminded me of him.
I tried to veer myself away from anything related to Gmail, volleyball, or Chinese.
I also tried to find the upside in more guys rather than the downside, and I stopped comparing everyone to Connor.
So here's a list of stuff I would recommend doing to get over a guy (or a girl, if you happen to be a guy)
1. DON'T MENTION THEIR NAME. Anything that reminds you of their name will immediately trigger memories of them at this point, so try not to mention their name.
2. DON'T DO THEIR FAVORITE ACTIVITIES. Unless their favorite activity is going to school, which I highly doubt, and doing the same exact things you do in your daily life, forget about it. The more memories you have with them, whether it be on the basketball court or the dance floor, just drop them for a while.
3. DON'T LISTEN TO SAD MUSIC. Trust me on this one. It will only make you reminiscent and all teary-eyed/ a downer on life. Listen to something upbeat and positive. My personal favorite would be all those peppy Avril Lavigne songs like Here's to Never Growing Up, but your choice.
4. SEVER YOUR TIES WITH THEM. At least temporarily. If you make too much contact with them, you'll just end up broken all over again.
5. TAKE ON A NEW HOBBY. If you're busy doing something fresh and interesting, it will take your mind off the person. But don't take on their favorite hobby, please.
6. FIND ANOTHER GUY/GIRL. This one is probably the most effective. If you have someone else to crush on, then you'll (hopefully) forget the other.
7. SPEND MORE TIME WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. Chances are, if you've been obsessing over this one person for so long, you've been neglecting your friends and family. They need your love too.
8. EAT COMFORT FOOD. Okay, so don't indulge yourself in desserts and blame me when you gain thirty pounds, but foods that you like will definitely take your mind off this person.
9. HELP OTHERS. Reach out and go donate to a charity or contribute to a good cause. Let out all the innocence and good inside of you, get rid of that depression, and get a life.
10. DON'T LISTEN TO ANYTHING I SAY. Unless you want to, I am usually not a super credible source. So proceed at your own risk :)
Follow these steps and (maybe) you will finally say good-bye to all those old feelings and start from a clean slate.
