Debut day had came about to quick and it was scary to think that soon 14% could become a household name such as Girls Generation or Big Bang. The nerves kicked in even more considering most of the members were not of a Korean descent which made most Korean inhabitants blood boil. It wasn't till the very moment that their managers were going to announce each member on stage that an anxiety attack had reached out and grabbed at her throat.
"What's up, Kitten?" a familiar voice pulled Amelia out from her thoughts and she turned her head to see her group's leader - Paige. Forcing a smile, Amelia shook her head as though to deny her nervous feelings. Paige frowned and crossed her arms as though she knew that the anxiety was slowly swallowing her up. Looking back out at the set everything just seemed to intimidate her; but this was her life now, she would just have to learn to suck it up.
Amelia came up with an excuse "What if they don't like me?" Paige furrowed her eyebrows and rolled her eyes with so much exaggeration Amelia was surprised they didn't roll out of her head. She looked away from Paige at the moment and stared at her groups manager: Haewon. For weeks on end he had been giving each individual member support and positive nature right now Amelia needed his encouraging words.
"If you don't want to talk to me about it that's fine - I understand. But talk to Haewon, okay?" Paige told Amelia, giving a tight squeeze on her hand. Amelia nodded and rushed over to Haewon who was currently watching the group before speak about their fifth comeback. Once Amelia had reached his side a smile grew on his face, a warm smile that was full of hope. Amelia would have admired it more if it wasn't for the fact she knew that her group would be sitting there next.
"In five year times that could be 14%; loved and admired by the public." Haewon softly spoke as he studied the boy group who were laughing and speaking of their times together. Amelia forced a smile for the second time in minutes and stared at the band who were being beamed on by the bright set lights. Haewon then turned to look at Amelia "Something wrong?"
An overwhelming feeling of dread washed over her as soon as the MC's announced that the time had finished for the boy group; that meant that it was now 14%'s turn to be questioned by the famous MC's. Daisy who was one of the youngest excitedly took Amelia's clammy hands in her own and stood with anticipation watching as the MC's announced them "We're next!" Daisy enthused, smiling brightly.
"Amelia?" Haewon had took to Amelia's other side and quietly whispered to her as his expression grew with concern. The environment around her now seemed ready to attack her - the lights were going to make her sweat more than she was, the MC's were there to interrogate her and the camera's were there for people to get a good look on what to hate about her.
"I can't do this." she croaked, fighting to keep tears back. Haewon's expression softened along with Daisy's grip on her hands. Daisy let go and shifted over to Emily who seemed to be going through how to introduce herself to the cameras. Haewon turned Amelia round to face him "As soon as I walk on that set that's it." she told Haewon who seemed to be thinking of ways to comfort the main dancer and choreographer.
"We're going to take a short break but right after we'll be here to show you Pledis' new girl group 14%!" the MC's cheerfully announced their name and clapped along to the audience clapping sound effect. Amelia then felt a terrible pang of panic hit her chest as though someone had just shot her. Haewon placed his firm hands on her shoulders and stared at her with his big brown eyes.
"Amelia I have faith in you and the other girls, okay? If you all be yourself the public will fall in love with you girls - especially you. You're sweet, funny, clumsy and talented; that's why I fell for you and that's why the public will fall for you too." Haewon's soothing words acted as barrier to stop any other negative feelings from getting into Amelia's body.
At that moment Paige had walked back over and took Amelia's hand like Daisy had and gave her a supportive smile; Paige was chosen as the leader because she looked after each girl just as Haewon did. Amelia looked around at the other girls who all seemed to be full of a mixture of nervousness and happiness and she decided she wasn't going to let the dread side win.
Most of the characters are based on either my friends or an actual idol but they're not completely the same. Sorry for not uploading in a while!
