We all know what a magatama is right? That special nine-shaped stone that all mediums (and Nick) have. But what's the magatama? Just a magic rock?
The Ace Attorney Wiki describes the magatama like this:
"The magatama is a sacred charm given to Phoenix Wright by his assistant Maya Fey and given spiritual power by Pearl Fey"
"The magatama has a special ability to allow it's possessor to see Psyche-Locks which appear when someone is hiding information from the user"
While Wikipedia describe magatamas like this:
"Magatama are curved, comma-shaped beads that appeared in prehistoric Japan from the Final Jomon period through the Kofun period"
"Magatama originally served as decorative jewelry, but by the end of the Kofun period functioned as ceremonial and religious objects."
While they may have different descriptions, we know for sure that it's the same object. But what if the magatama can degrade and drain of all spiritual power?

Finally, this is a magatama that doesn't have spiritual power AND is not used anymore. Without any contact with the spiritual world, it degraded to a normal, funny looking rock. This is probably the rock that argeologists found.
