Wanna Be In Our Band? (Ryden)

Brendon's POV

I walked up to the entrance of my high school, Palo Verde High School, to see I had just made it on time.

Everyone had already headed to class, except my best friend Brent Wilson who was waiting for me outside.

I waved to him, and he didn't reply. We just started walking to class, since I had almost made us late again.

"Where the fuck have you been? I almost left for class." He said, a bit annoyed.

"Sorry! I slept in this morning. I was up all night trying to think of...never mind."

"Think of what?" He asked.

"Nothing, Brent. It's fine."

"No it's not. It's not fine if you had to stay up all night. Come on, tell me! Please?" He replied, now concerned.

I didn't reply for a bit. We got to our lockers and got our books.

Once we did that, I noticed Brent giving me an expression that I couldn't really make out. He looked sad, guilty, and confused all at once.

I sighed.

"Fine. I was trying to write songs."

He stopped, causing me to stop right after.

"Again? Brendon, you've gotta find a better time to do this. It's not healthy to stay up that late." He said, sympathy in his voice.

He always feels these things are his fault, because he's the one who brought up wanting to be in a band.

"I know, I know. I'll find a better time, I promise. But for now we've gotta get to class. Race ya!"

I stormed down the hallway, catching Brent by surprise.

He looked left and right to look for teachers, then laughed and ran to catch up with me.

We both ended up in the doorway for our first period class, Algebra, when the bell rang. Luckily the teacher wasn't in the room, so we had walked in like nothing happened.

Once we had taken our seats, the teacher arrived and carried on with class.

Just another normal day, like always. I wonder if things will ever change...
