I woke up to a big clap of thunder this morning. It was the second to last day of school. Most summers don't start like this, but to me, this whole year has been off. In the middle of fall it was still in the high eighties, it didn't snow till the end of winter, which had caused us to have a whole extra hour added to school for two whole months, and then it's been pouring rain for the last week when it's supposed to be the first week of summer, not spring.
When I woke up, my immediate reaction was, why? I didn't ask or want this to happen. I was supposed to be going on a trip this week instead of going to school, but no. My flight got canceled do to all of the storms lately.
I got up and out of my bed and headed towards my closet. I had opened my closet door and my alarm started going off. "Damn it." I had said. I turned around slowly and slightly irritated, and walked towards my alarm clock and switched it off. Then I headed back to my closet door, which was still wide open. "Aaliyah, are you dressed yet?" said my mother. "Almost! Give me a minute!" I had shouted back at her. Then I continued to get dress.
Bling. My phone blared. I went over to my night stand which was beside my bed, where my phone was on it's charger next to my alarm clock. I picked up my phone and read the messages.
Hailey: good morning bestie! r u still coming to Busch Gardens with us on Saturday?
Aaliyah: idk i might have to work on Saturday
Hailey: kk see u soon!
I then pulled my phone off of my charger and went downstairs to the kitchen. "What took you so long?" said my mom, Sharon. I didn't feel like answering because I had to hurry up to get out the door for school. Only one day left, I told myself, just one more day.
I went over to the door and grabbed my sweater off of the hook then opened the door to see if it was still raining. Yep, it was still raining. I shut the door and then grabbed my backpack. "No breakfast today?" said Sharon. I then looked at her, then looked at the clock on the microwave, and then I looked back at her. She gave me a nod and said goodbye. I didn't say anything back, although I wish I would have.
When I had got to school Hailey came up to me, "Hey! So can you go to Busch Gardens this weekend or not?" I rolled my eyes and said, "I already told you this morning. I have to call my boss and see if I can have a day off." We continued walking down the hall to our first bell. Hailey then stopped in front of me and said, "Aaliyah, if you have something to say to me then get it out already." I rolled my eyes once more and maneuvered around her. Or at least tried to anyways. Hailey then ran up to me and said, "Why have you been acting like this lately? Ever since your... I'm sorry, but you've had a really bad attitude since, well you know." We turned right and continued down the hallway in silence.
A few months ago my dad had died. I had sat in my room all day and went to school not talking to anybody. Not even my mom. Every single day I got worse.
If it wasn't for a drunk driver, my dad would still be alive today. Now my mom is with some other guy, named Calvin. Calvin is super rich and gives me one hundred dollars a week in allowance. My mom has been debating whether we should move into his mansion or not. She says she loves it here but then again, she keeps saying that she loves Calvin.
At lunch that day I went and sat by Hailey and told her that I had called my boss during study hall- I had asked to go to the bathroom. I told her that I could go to Bush Gardens this Saturday. Then Hailey had said, "Yay! Oh my gosh. I just realized that Jackson is going to be there!"
"How?"
"He works there. I think he is going to be working at the Battering Ram"
"So you invited me just so I could talk to Jackson? Why Hailey? I just went through a fifteen minute conversation with my boss, trying to work something out so that I can talk to some guy?
"Pretty much, I mean...It's a full proof plan"
Ugh! Was all I could think about at the moment. Hailey knows I don't like Jackson but she thinks that she is the perfect match maker. At that point I was thinking, mine as well go to the park. I already had told my boss that I was going to Bush Gardens with my friend. On my part, this was a bad idea.
Now to tell you the part where....well.... let's just say something bad happens.
