Ishi sat down on the ground, crying tears of joy as she stared at the small blob of Kioku in her hands. Lucien grinned at Ishi, then turned up to Yujin. Yujin looked back down on him, smiling. Lucien's hand seemed to be holding another. Another that wasn't there. Another that would never be there. And then Yujin's hand slipped in to fill that hole. Lucien seemed shocked. But Yujin's calm, loving look seemed to bring him back. "So, this is what Ishi must be feeling..." Yujin muttered to herself. Lucien only nodded as he stared lovingly into Yujin's bright emerald eyes, which were tearing up with happiness. Lucien soon realized he was doing the same. He let it happen. He didn't care if him tearing up would end his life. Because he was with Yujin. As they stared on, another blob began to float upward, out of the crater. And then another, and another. Until every single blob was floating above the crater. Ishi slowly turned upward, Kioku held tightly against her heart. And the blobs moved through the air gently. And they formed together to spell "Thank you." Ishi teared up more. She cried tears of joy as the blobs flew up and away from the crater, one by one. They left a trail of stardust raining down. And as they flew through the sunrise, their stardust sparkled in the new morning dew. Ishi's tear filled eyes looked up and admired the beauty that her life had given her. And Yujin and Lucien, holding hands, looked up at the stardust and realized there is nothing better than the moment you find the person you were always meant to be with. And as the blobs flew off, Ishi stood up and turned toward Yujin and Lucien. And they all held hands, staring up at the stardust. The stardust that made them. The stardust that taught them how to love. And they realized that it was the most beautiful thing that could ever happen. And then all the blobs had escaped to the wonderful world, leaving their stardust trails behind them. "Let's go back to the city." Ishi murmured, still holding Kioku close to her heart. But when they got back to the city, everything was different.
There were humans.
And suddenly, it hit Lucien. "That's how you return life... us fire creatures were the souls of the humans... and you restored our human life to us..." Lucien looked up and Ishi, and then Yujin. "Thank you." And then suddenly he realized. "Hey, I'm not a human yet! What gives?" He giggled at himself. And then suddenly a blob ran into him, disappearing in his flames. Yujin grinned. He fell to the ground and slowly returned back to himself. He was tall, with messy blonde hair and wondrous blue eyes. He slowly stood up, dusted himself off, and turned to look at Yujin. Yujin simply ran at him and hugged him. "You're still beautiful... You may even be more beautiful than before!" She giggled. Lucien hugged her back as he grinned, embarrassed. And as Lucien and Yujin were talking and giggling together, Ishi realized. There's more to life than chasing after someone to love. It's not a matter of chasing, but a matter of waiting. Waiting, because eventually, someone else waiting will find you. All she had to do was wait. Wait for life to not pass her by. Wait for the right time to take hold with all she loved. And all she will love. She had to wait for Kioku to come back to her. And wait for the right time for her to realize that life is worth waiting for.
