I am not like them
I do not have demons
Demons who infect the mind with lies
Lies disguised as truths
Lies that make them believe they want to leave
I am lucky
I do not have their demons
But I listen to their music
Music written by one of them
For them
To tell them they are not alone
To tell them it gets better
To tell them to stay
Tell them to Stay Alive
I close the door
The door to the outside world
And open another one
The door to my mind
Where my thoughts roam free
And where my own little monsters
Sometimes whisper lies I can't help but believe
I lay down
Close my eyes
And let the lyrics speak to me
Let them talk me their stories
Each story calls out to a different person
And saves them in different ways
As I lie there
Emotions, passion, meaning
Flow from the speakers
Into my mind
I wish I could understand it all
But I'm glad I can't
For I don't need their demons
So I let the music play
Thinking of all the lives it's saved
Wondering if it ever have the chance to save mine
There is something about the music
Maybe it's the voice that your hear
Raw with experience
Experience with emotions
Pain
Loss
Hopelessness
Loneliness
And Emptiness
Maybe it's the lyrics
That seem to know exactly what going on inside your mind
And how to sympathize with you
Or the actual instruments themselves
How individual rhythms can come together to create one sound
It can be calming
Or hectic
But beautiful all the same
I believe it's everything
The singer writes his lyrics
Pours his heart, soul and mind into them
Then a rhythm is built
And when it all comes together
They have created art
Art that makes you cry
Art that makes you feel numb
Art that makes your breath disappear
Art that makes you think
Art that unites you with people around the world
So I am like them
I just don't have demons

Welcome to my mind ( freestyle poetry )
PoesíaHello, my name is Claire. I write poems and I decided to publish them. So when ever I write a new one it will be here. Tbh I don't know if they're good or not but they come straight from me. No filters. What's on my mind is what's on the page.
