Chapter 1

Year: 2008

June 20

Beep, beep ............, goes the sound of an angry clock waiting to be turned off. Flora stretches out her hand and slams the annoying alarm clock at her bedside table. With sleep still in her eyes, she muffles up a yawn, opens up her eyes reluctantly, suddenly with a jolt she remembers; "OMG!!!!! It's today" she jumps out of bed and hugs herself with glee. It's her long planned and awaited prom day and she slept in. Oh my gosh!! I'm going to be late for my appointments, she cries.

With great rush, she brushes her teeth and hurriedly flosses. She runs her hands through her long blonde hair to work out all the fritz from it, splashes water on her face, wipes it with a face towel and stars in the mirror as her beautiful eyes stare back at her with such sheen and she says to herself "touché" and she giggles with glee and runs out of the bathroom. She opens her disarranged closet and quickly searches through and picks out a pair of Levi jeans and a forever 21 tank top. In haste she wriggles through her jeans and wears her top and picks up a snapback, places it on her head and she wears a pair of flower printed trainers and storms out of her room.

Taking the stairs two at a time, she bumps into her mother, Lily Cassidy, slender looking, firm butt, half Mexican, half American, plush lips, firm portable breasts, flat stomach, a face like that of her daughter's, emerald green eyes that shown whenever she was excited, short blonde hair she had a good aura that kept people close to her, she indeed is a special gem like her husband Andrew Cassidy used to say. Oh!! Hi mom, gotta run I'll see you when I get back from Lady Fifi's Salon, she leans and pecks her mother. Bye! She runs out the door and slams it shut. Her mom still stands rooted to the same spot as she stares blankly at the well polished oak door, then gradually a little smile crops up to her lips as she let out a sweet but soft laughter.

She turns and walks towards the kitchen to get a hot cup of coffee, with smiles still on her face the lovely scent of vanilla scones makes her tummy do a weird little dance in full agreement to whatever she's thinking. Morning Mrs Cassidy says Andrea the cook, looking beautiful this morning!! Lily beams at her and says"thanks Andrea, not looking bad yourself, can I have a cup?" Here you go! Help yourself with some scones Lily dear!

A.ndrea Rodriguez, fifty years of age has been with the Cassidy family for the past twenty years, sweet,lovely and always kind hearted. Plump, streaks of grey on her lovely chestnut brown hair dutifully packed into a bun. Lovely dark eyes with long eye lashes and a breath taking smile.
" Flora skipped breakfast today, she must've butterflies swimming in her tummy, cuz today is a special day, it reminds me of my day in high school. You know something Lily I was the prettiest señorita in town, just like our Flora" Andrea says
Lily chuckles,and says " well am proud of her, she's grown so big, she reminds me of me, so hopeful and filled with joy, lots of energy and grace" she sighs
Now, Lily dear don't get all weepy on me now, today is a happy day, Andrea goes over and gives her a hug.
I know, Andy but I just can't help it! It's my daughter's prom!!!I should be thrilled, Andrea gives her a Kleenex and she sniffs but I just can't help thinking about my prom also, it was sad, she sniffs again
Now, now Lily that was yours, this is Flora's you've got to be happy, okay??
Okay!! She smiles, you're the best Mrs Rodriguez!!!

Hi ma!! Selena says as she walks into the kitchen. Morning Mrs Cassidy! She leans and gives both of them a peck.
Morning Selena! Says Lily
You're late again!! Her mother says
I know, was just trying to figure out what to wear for prom that's all, sorry okay?? Selena leans on the kitchen table and pouts at her mother and tries to look cute!
"Awwww now common Andrea she's sorry, aren't you hon?"
Yeah totally!!!
Okay, whatever! Says Andrea
Where's Flo? She asks
Salon!!
Oh ok!!
Um, mom I need your help with my hair and makeup, and also I still haven't decided what I want to wear! She whines, this is a disaster!
What? Andrea asks
Today!!
Okay, um Selena come with me, I have got something for you Says Lily
Oh ok, be back in a jiffy mom!

Selena, so different from her mother, deep brown eyes, nice curves, small breasts, long dark curls that never stay put, a perfect tan, slender, five seven in height, a full lip and high cheek bones. She and flora attend the same high school and have been best friends for as long as they began to talk. Selena is like a big sister to Flora, though only older than her with a couple of months. She's more of the decision maker between both of them.
