Chapter 1: Batty Blueprints

"Hello! This is Summer Evans, CEO of Reflection Designs. Interior Designs that reflect you, how may I help you?" Since I have yet to hire an assistant, I've been juggling phone calls since the lawyers said this place was mine.

I hold a hand up to my co-CEO as I absorb every detail the woman was feeding me. She speaks hurriedly, almost crying when her words jumble together.

My co-CEO, Spencer, starts making hand gestures as if I understand them. I scrunch my eyebrows as my nose moves upwards, "What?" I mouthed.

I hang up the phone silently once I was finished talking to my client who said that her room paint color is all wrong.

Spencer huffed, "I said do you want to wrap this meeting up?"

I hold up my index finger. "First of all, you didn't say anything," I put my middle finger next to my index, "Second of all, you could've just left."

I look through my light blue note book that has a motivational quote on the front. I look through it once I find the notes I took on my clients.

"I couldn't have just left. We have a problem with our client list" he leaned forward with a perplexed look on his face.

I look down on the page to see what my client, Becky, wanted her paint color to be.In here she said she wanted navy blue but on the phone she told me ocean blue. I let it slide considering she's pregnant and very picky on how she wants the room to look like.

Spencer takes my silence as a sign to keep talking. "Ever since, well, the change in CEO's, regular clients have been cancelling their meetings with us." he informed. He started drumming his fingers on my desk as I was too distracted to come up with a solution.

I huff as I pick up my typical phone which has my usual bedazzled phone case. I call my painter, Javier as I explain to him how the client wants the room to be painted again with a different color.

I hang up the phone as I hear a familiar ping on my desktop.

"I completely understand why the clients have changed their minds, but it's my second week now. Once my designs get out there and we have new pictures up on the website, they'll come around." I explained, hopefully he believes me as I'm finding it hard to believe myself.

"Of course, just letting you know, we're dropping clients quickly. Our reviews aren't looking so good." He explains in a deep tone.

I shake my head at all his negatives. I just started, I don't need reminders of how bad these two weeks have been.

I turn my attention back to my computer and on to my email.

I squint my eyes as I move my glasses upwards. I look at it as the subject simply states its business. I can already tell it's a man but as I look down to see who sent it was not the man I was thinking of.
