6 weeks after that admittion...
"April, are you avoiding me?" said Sky. "Umm... No. Why?" said April. "These past few weeks, you weren't talking to me... Is there something wrong?" said Sky. "No... Nothings' wrong. Nothing at all. Now, excuse me. I need to attend to many things aside from talking." said April. "Bu-" Before Sky finised his sentence, April already left.
April did this and that. She went here and there. She wanted to avoid him without a decent reason why. She attended her classes. Didn't care about anything else but WORK right now...
"April, are you avoiding someone?" said Clarice. "Don't put your nose in someone else's business, Clarice." said April. "Apee, you're avoiding someone." said Clarice in a serious tone. "Clarice, just leave me alone for a few days. I can't... I can't talk to anyone right now. I'm in a bad mood. Tell Sky he's in charge till I get better. Bye." said April as she started to leave school premises.
April rode in her Subaru and went home. She opened the door and saw that her elder brothers Lyon, Josh and Lee were spread out on the couch and on the floor. She saw tons of beer bottles and bags of chips. ' Mom's gonna bust them for this.' thought April. She went to her room and locked the door. She shut her phone down and wore a large hooded jacket and sweatpants.
KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
"Who's there?" said April. "It's Lyon. Can I talk to you for a bit?" said Lyon. "Sure." said April. Lyon opened the door and sat on April's green bean bag. "So, you didn't attend school today. Why?" said Lyon. "Lyon, don't push this topic. Please. I feel horrible. The school will be fine without me anyway. Sky will lead them for now. Our break for Christmas starts tomorrow. Don't put your nose in someone else's business, okay?" said April and she started to walk off. "April! It is my business since I am your older brother!" said Lyon. "Do you know what it feels like to be the PERFECT child? No. Did you feel that you're never good enough because your family doesn't give you enough attention?! No... Lyon, please leave me alone... I don't want to see anyone right now... Kuya, kailangan kong kalimutan ang nararamdaman ko... Iwanan mo muna ako... Please." said April while crying. Lyon's eyes were watery and he left the room with a crash.
Argh! CRASH! CRASH!
'Kuya... Lyon... I'm sorry... Kuya Josh and Lee... Gino... Ate Julia... Mommy... I'm sorry. But, I need to leave. I don't want you guys to be dragged to my problems. Please, forgive me.' thought April. She brought out two green luggage and a white backpack. She placed most of the stuff she needed for a 3 month vacation. In her backpack, she put her laptop and other stuff she really needed. She changed the sim of her phone and called her Tita Rammy.
Ring... Ring... Ring...
"Who's this?" said Tita Rammy. "It's me... April... Can I stay with you in the Philippines for a while?" stuttered April. "Sure! Anything for my favorite niece! Gusto mo sunduin ka ni Tito James mo sa airport bukas?" said Tita Rammy. "Yup! I'll arrive at around 9 am. Is Rida and Ate Jill fine, tita?" said April. "Yep. Jill is a pastry chef now! She even is famous here in Boracay already! Rida? She has a boyfriend now. His name is Rob. See you in Bora, dear!" said Tita Rammy.
Doo Doo Doo
April gathered her stuff and jumped off the window. Before leaving, she changed into a white shirt, a gray jacket, black jeans and black sneakers. She hailed a taxi and told the driver to drop her off at Palms Airway. She paid the driver $50 and bought her ticket. Time check: 1 pm. 'I still have an hour... Better get lunch.' thought April. April bought a diet cola, a cheeseburger and a bar of chocolate. April checked the time again and it was quarter to two. 'Shoot! I'm freakin late!' thought April. April dashed towards her gateway and barely made it. She gave the attendant her ticket and she sat down on her designated seat. 'I made it... I should be more cautious about time next time... I need to sleep.' thought April. She closed her eyes and drifted into sleep.
"*yawn* What time is it? Oh, it's just 7 am. Better have breakfast." said April. A stewardess passed by and April ordered pancakes and orange juice. "Here you are." said April while handing the stewardess while handing her $112. April ate so quickly. She finished her food in just 5 minutes. After April finished eating, she put her headphones on and listened to music while waiting for the plane to land.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We will be landing in Palms Airway. Thank you for riding with us. Please fasten your seatbelt." the pilot said. April fastened her seatbelt and waited.
SCREECH! SCREECH!
April got off the plane and waited for her Tito James. She saw a middle aged man wearing shades, a yellow polo shirt, blue pants and black sneakers. The man took off his shades and smiled sweetly at her. April rushed over to her Tito and hugged him. "Tito! Long time no see! Kamusta yung lechunan mo?" exclaimed April. "Ah... Yung lechunan... Kilalang-kilala na yun dito sa Bora!" said Tito James. He led her to his black suv and let her sit at the front seat.
"So, why did you suddenly want to go here in Boracay?" said Tito James. April played with her fingers and said "Umm... It's just so stressful at home so I wanted to relax for a while. That's all." "Ah, ok... So do you have a boyfriend?" said Tito James. "Uh... I don't have time for one. So, nope! I don't have a boyfriend, Tito." said April calmly. "So, whe-" "We're here, Tito." said April.
April got down and looked at the house in front of her now. 'Nothing changed...' thought April. April let Tito James guide her to the room she was going to stay in. It was simple and cozy. She lied down on the bed and tried to remember her time here as a kid.
FLAHBACK:
April was 8 years old. She was smiling and running around with her brothers and cousins. They were playing tag. Lyon splashed water on her and she did the same to him. They laughed at each other and grinned.
Rida, her cousin, taught her how to make a shell necklace. They were so happy that time especially her.
Boracay was April's second home. Somewhere where she would feel safe and be happy.
