Prologue

Sophie:
I did not have a happy beginning.

When I was born, the doctors said it was miracle, but my parents on the hand thought of me as a curse. But they still brought me home, cause they would get paid to take care of me. They spent the monthly income on themselves for food, where I would only get table scraps. They would use it more a new bed, pillows and blankets, Where I would get a lumpy mattress and nothing to cover my self up, or to lay my head on. They would treat me like a slave and hit me, even when I did not do anything wrong, and their were times, where my dad did horrible things to me. This went on for years, I would watch parents and kids at the park, play catch and other games on each other, and wonder why my family is not like that. I had enough of their selfishness, their antics, and of them.

So, on my seventh birthday, I ran away.

I silently made my way down the steps, and out the door, after making sure that my parents are sleeping. I ran towards the forest in the backyard, and disappeared in the darkness. I didn't know how I had been walking through the forest, all I could tell was that I was sleepy, and cold. I found a cave and decided to spend the night in it. I awoke to some foot steps coming my way, and since I was only a kid, I did the only thing I could do, and that curl up and hope that they would go away. I heard the footsteps and someone gasped, I opened my eyes slowly to pair of shocked green eyes and the owner of those was a beautiful woman with blonde hair, and strange pretty pink and purple clothes. The woman was pretty shocked to see a young child out in the forest, especially when it is freezing.

???: What are you doing here, young one?

I could easily tell that she is not faking any concern, or pity for me, and I felt so safe that I couldn't help myself.

Sophie: I ran way.

???: But, why?

I started to cry while I was remembering why. The woman laid a hand on my head, and then it felt like I was reliving every single one of my memories. After what felt like forever, the woman took her hand off my head, and looked at me with a pale face and tears in her eyes. The woman wiped her eyes.

???: My name is Zavadia and I can take you away, so you can live a life full of happiness. Do you except?

I could only stare at her, shocked for a moment, before nodding my head.

Zavadia: (Holding out her hand to me) Then, take my hand.

I stood up and reached up, only to hesitate for a moment, before taking it and light engulfed us. It was so bright, that I had to close my eyes. After a few minutes, Zavadia spoke up.

Zavadia: Young one, open your eyes.

I did as I was told and the sight in front of me was breath taking.

Zavadia: Welcome to Acmetropolis.

Tall buildings that go up all the way to the sky and past the clouds, cars that can fly in the air, and bunch of other things.

Zavadia: Young one.

I turned to face her, only to find her kneeling down, so she can talk to me at my level.

Zavadia: Before you start your new life. We have to change your appearance.

I tilted my head in confusion.

Zavadia: You can remain human or we can turn you in an anthropomorphic. A animal that can do things like you can.

For a moment, I could only blink in surprise at the possibility, that I can be my favorite animal, as I imagined what would I look like, a big smile began to stretch on my face, and I began to giggle. Zavadia laughed, since she knew what I wanted.
