Fireworks

Fourth of July weekend always gave Steve Rogers mixed emotions.

Pros: -His birthday is the 4th
-it is freedom weekend and he is Captain America
-he easily slip and patriotic rants without getting yelled at

Cons: -Fireworks

Ever since Steve Rogers has gotten out of his 70 year nap he hated fireworks. Each part of a fireworks reminds him of war.

You see the pretty colours overhead, to Steve they are Nazis and Hydra saying we're coming for you too don't try to run.

For you the loud boom is just a side affect but for Steve it shoves him into his past. It makes him remember when he was on missions and on the field with cannons and rifles aimed on his chest and back the whole time. The pain of a comrade falling dead on the ground next to him with a loud boom marking his death.

The shout you yell after being surprised by it, is the memories of screaming soldiers for him. On the field, on coats, during surgery, hearing the news of their brothers who died.

You would call it the grand finale, to him it is the day no men go home.

Maybe sometime in the future Steve can see what you see in fireworks.
