Something slithers through the vents, watching silently at the young woman who gazes with love at the stars in space. The thing grins viciously at his dark, twisted thoughts going on inside his head. Soon, soon, my swallow, I'll make you mine. His claws scrape the metal as he twists away from the woman.

Deep in a sterile, white lab a young boy lay unconscious on a gurney. His chest is covered in a cloth and a gaping hole is shown streaked with blood. The boys appearance is odd as he has two spiralling horns jutting out from his forehead. Cat eared people surround him, one of them holds a scarlet heart and is preparing to replace the mangled one he now has. The boy is in suspended animation, ready to become a weapon for these people. He has had his memories erased and new ones inserted. A single black box sits waiting to be placed in the hole behind his ear. It is to be wired into the behavioural part of his brain. It will knock out his mercy, free will and emotion. Those are the parts that make us human. A machine beeps showing his heartbeat and blood pressure. Usually the surgery takes only a couple hours to complete but this one has taken eighteen.
