Chapter 1

chapter 1 > you can be the butterflies i feel in my belly

Kendall's POV

I woke up to the morning sun shining through the cracks in my curtains. I look over to the clock on my bedside table 6:30am. The first day of summer vacation, I put on a sports bra and running shorts and tied my hair up. I grabbed my phone off charge and my earphones.

When I got home from my run at 8:00 I saw my brother, Jackson sitting at the table eating his breakfast looking at his phone. "Hey Jackson" I say as I open the fridge to get my bottle of water "Hey little sis" he said looking up from his phone. I make myself some breakfast and sit down at the table with him and check my phone, first I text my best friend Kaylie.

hey kaylz, wanna hang out today ? xx

as I wait for a reply I go on to Instagram and check all the comments on my recent post they were all positive ones, after a few minutes of replying to comments I get a reply from kaylie.

hey babe, nini's @ 11 ? xxx

sounds good should i invite carter and jackson ? xx

yep see ya then hun xxx

Carter was my brothers best friend, they had been friends for as long as I can remember, now days Carter and Jackson hang out with us a lot even though we're all about 3 years apart it never really bothered us. Nini's was a Café that was literally the best café in town, it was also our hang out, we had been going there since we were all little.

I quickly check the time on my phone 9:30, I keep looking through social media for 15 minutes.

"Hey Jackson, Kaylie and I are going to nini's at 11 ask Carter if you guys wanna come too."

"Yeah sure, you text him I'm gonna go for a quick shower."

He picks up his bowl and puts it in the sink and heads upstairs. I pull out my phone and find Carter's name.

hey Carter, kaylie jackson and i are going to nini's at 11 wanna join ?

sure baby i'll meet you guys there

Carter had always called me baby ever since I can remember, he calls me that because i'm younger and shorter than him. Jackson had already told Carter that he would kill him if he ever tried to kiss me or date me. Carter had always been like a brother to me but recently i've been getting butterflies whenever he's around and I have no idea why. Maybe I had feelings for him, but I just pushed it to the back of my mind.

I finish my breakfast and put my bowl in the sink and head upstairs for a shower. After a 15 minute shower. I get changed into a jumper and shorts and apply a little bit of makeup and braid my hair.

When I walk out of my room and down stairs it's 10:30 and Jackson is sitting on the couch looking at his phone. I go over and sit next to him.

"Carter's coming too" I say as I sit down. He nods and continues to scroll through his instagram feed. I do the same and after a little while Jackson gets up and so do I. "We need to pick up Carter on the way is that okay?" Jackson asks as we get in the car. "yep" I say moving from front seat to back so Carter could sit with Jackson.

After 5 minutes we had picked up Jackson and we were waking in to nini's spotting kaylie in our usual spot looking down at her phone with 4 drinks on the table. I smile at how she had ordered for all of us, we all knew what each of us ordered and I was really glad we were that close.

We all sat around laughing and talking sharing a large bowl of chips until around 12:30 when Jackson invited the group to go back to our house to watch a movie. After everyone agreed we all got into Jackson's car. Kaylie being the best friend she is and being the only one knowing about Carter she called shotgun, leaving Carter and I in the back seat. She turned around in her seat and gave me a sick smile as I glared back. I had my hand sitting in the middle seat and moments later I felt a hand on mine, I look over at Carter who is looking out the window. I turn back and look out the window and instantly he laces out fingers together. I look over to him again and this time he's looking straight ahead a smile on his face.

If only he knew how he made me feel...
