I still remember that day so vividly, when we had to pick up our entire life and move across the country. I had to say goodbye to my childhood home, my school, and most of all, my best friend. We grew up together and lived right next door, we were inseparable from the start. However, that close bond we shared always felt too good to be true, I somehow knew it would never last.

Two years ago

"Aaron I gotta go, my mom said to be home before 5 for dinner." I continue swinging with him by my side.

"Oh come on, really?! But I wanted to show you something Spenc," He gave me a pouty face.

I hopped off the swing and began slowly walking away. "Aaron, I live right next door, you can show me tomorrow if you really want. If I don't get home on time again my mom will probably have a stick up my ass." We giggled at what we though was 'fowl language' at the time and he hopped off his swing right behind me, jogging a bit to catch up.

"Oh alright, well i'll see you tomorrow, right?"

"Sureeeee thing! Or we can do 'code red' tonight after dinner." I gave him a slight grin and a wink and walked away.

'Code red' was our code word, of course, that we would say on our walkie talkies if either one of us needed to talk. When we heard the magic code words coming through, we had to meet at our windows. Since Aaron and I were neighbors, our rooms happened to be facing each other so all we needed to do was open up our windows and whisper through our walkies.

I walked home just in time to hear my mom yell from the kitchen. "Spencer, I need to talk to you about something, come sit down for dinner." As I stepped into my kitchen I smelt my favorite, Mac and cheese with hot dogs,
that's when I knew something was up because she only made that on special occasions.

"What's up mom?" I questioned as she walked over to me.
