Ash and Serena continued running after the balloon even as it was getting dark. "We should take a break" ash said recognizing that she was tired.
"No, no" Serena replied. She knew ash could keep going for a while, and didn't want to slow him "you can go ahead" she said. She knew that she still couldn't go much longer.
"If that's ok with you" ash said. But as he turned he saw the balloon moving down. "They're landing!" He said taking off towed the balloon.
'Its not much longer' Serena said psyching her self up to run after him. *pat, pat, pay* her feet pounded on the ground.
She was surprised by how fast she was going, but also that ash was even faster. Then, she realized it just too late. The trees on the side of the path seemed to disappear.
Then ash disappeared from sight. No one knew if the sound ash made was from the drop, or from seeing the decoy balloon laying there on the ground.
Serena stopped, nearly toppling down after ash. She was at first relieved that she didn't just fall down the cliff. Then she realized that ash was lying down at the bottom of the cliff, motionless.
