Not Tatum, just Tate. Though the similarity is on purpose. Back when he was just a nameless fetus, his mother entered an online contest. It was simple: prove your dedication to Channing Tatum and you meet Channing Tatum. Of course, she didn't win, some crazy lady convinced her boyfriend to have plastic surgery and fucked him, but she was now stuck with a baby named after a male model.

The thing is, Channing Tate is basically a duplicate of Channing Tatum. Not like a clone, but their lives are oddly similar. He was good looking, fit, and has recently started acting. (Though his mother would never approve of him being Magic Mike II.) Despite the good fortune his name might give him, Channing Tate hated his name. He did not want to be known as Channing Tate, whose name made him famous, so he just went by Tate. Of course, it didn't help that his father was Edgar Calder, renowned fashion designer, but he was fine with that guy Tate, the ultimate winner of the birth lottery. After all, it was true.
