Chapter 1- HIDE and SEEK

One Week Later...

"It wasn't a decision taken overnight. A lot of discussion went into this before it was finalized. We've Mr. Stevens' written consent over the matter as well. And we are definitely supporting his decision. Ms. Waltz is perfectly capable of carrying the new responsibilities Sir has trusted her with..."

That was the Chairman from the board of Directors of SI. And that's right people, a lot is happening at SI!

Guess what?...It's under a new leadership!?"

The anchor from the TVGossips bursted on the screen. While the bulletins from the recent press conference kept appearing in all caps at the bottom of the screen.

"So what are we thinking guys? Is Ms. Waltz really capable or should we say, suited to be the temporary Vice President of SI, until Mr. Stevens decides to return from his 'Vacation'?"

The anchor double quoted the word vacation with her fingers.

"The vacation that is said to be a break from all the hectic work here. And considering the fact that he caught up the flu recently and was hospitalized and is on a mend. But we think otherwise people!

"That's right! That's not all there is to this conference."

"While it was announced in the press conference that Hales is going to be merged with Stevens Construction. And they had hopes that both the names would prosper together."

"But our sources tell us that the New Year favourite couple is actually going through a rough patch. Some confirm that Ms. Hale had Infact moved in with Mr. Prefect Blue eyes. Isn't he just dreamy girls?"

The anchor perked up winking at the screen. She sure loved talking about him.

"She even stayed with him in the hospital while he was sick. But now...they might be breaking up. Aww...my heart goes out to Mr. Prefect. And I know you girls out there think so too."

Now she did a stupid pout.

"So this said 'vacation'...

Another quoty fingers

"...is either the coping mechanism from the break up. Or some even say that this is a publicity stunt to get their new project back in the news. Yes, we are talking about the Estate that was said to be Mr. Kent's dream project. Now with Hales joining them and this 'break up news'...its shares are higher than ever!"

"So either Mr. Kent is playing a mean game with us with this fake break up...cause seriously they look pretty hot together.

Or it's true. And since none of the two were actually present at the conference to confirm it...there is a chance that it is true. We have no assured news as to when he will be returning from his break.

True or false. A lot of mystery still hangs around our Blue eyed billionaire. And we definitely like that!

The real story still remains within the inner circle of SI. Time will surely tell us if it's all true about Mr. Kent and Ms. Alex. And whether Ms. Waltz is actually fit for such a big responsivity. We'll have to hold our breaths and wait for Mr. Stevens to come around again..."

Edward muted the news and whistled. "Damn! They sure love talking about him a lot! No wonder his ego is the size of Eiffel Tower!"

While Edward remained standing beside her, Vanessa sat on the lounge of her penthouse watching the news. One of her contacts had told Edward to switch on to this talk show. They had missed the actually press conference which would've been much more bearable than this fangirling anchor of TVGossips.

Although they did get the gist of what happened there.

"So, what'd you think?" Vanessa asked him while her eyes still remained fixed on the screen that showed a few clips from the New Year Cruise party with Kent and Alex being the highlight of it. Her eyes narrowed when they had zoomed up on a smiling Kent while looking at Alex.

"I don't even know what to think. There's a lot going on with this guy. I mean...to think they have hidden the truth about Alex!? She's dead and they are still letting people believe otherwise. And Kent wasn't even there at the press conference too. It's like he has completely vanished! Looks like this vacation thing might actually be a truth to this whole Press Conference." Edward rambled frowning but now turning to look at her as he took a seat on the nearby couch.

"He hasn't vanished. He's out there somewhere. We know that for sure. The press conference at least said one thing true." Vanessa rose up from her couch and walked up to the TV screen. Her eyes focusing on what her frozen screen showed.

"The truth lies within the inner circle of SI. That includes her." She spoke looking at Stacy's picture. Her eyes flickering to someone behind her but still tagging close to her.

"And you plan to reach out to her through him?" Edward asked but smirked already knowing what she was getting at. She definitely was conniving.

Brian Gates stood behind her. The agent in charge of the task force was at the press conference. Not a coincidence of course.

"That's the FBI Agent, isn't he?" Vanessa asked turning back to face him.

"Yep. Brian Gates. Head of the task force they formed to investigate the...you know." Edward answered her only stopping before he would offend her.

Vanessa bit her lip to control herself. Edward could see her struggle.

"Yes, I know. That's why we are here Ed. I have to find Kent." Anger shinned brightly in her blue eyes at just the thought of him.

Edward smirked nodding at her as he arranged his specs with his fingers.

A/N-

So I guess a short chapter is still better than not updating for another week. Sorry guys I am a bit stuck somewhere and hence this shorter chapter. I know you all must be pretty pissed but I am trying to write whenever I can. You might even find my writing to be shi!ty cause of how I wrote it.

A lot of new faces and new vague characters thrown to your faces. I've attached their pics. Lemme know if they are not showing. I am having some problem uploading the pics.

I don't know if you guys have noticed this pattern of mine. But in the start of all my books the first opening scene always ends up with someone stranger's death. LOL! I just like sticking to the tradition.

A story is building up here guys. I know all their talks must seem a little too cryptic to you. Since a lot is still there that you don't know. Just be patient. You'll understand everything. Also you must have noticed that I haven't attached to cast with this book yet. Well, there is a reason to that too. I will add the cast but not until we reach the mid of the story. I have my reasons. And I love teasing y'all! ;)

Who was Henderson? Why is Vanessa and Edward trying to find Kent? And what's with these new developments in SI? I know there are a lot of questions. And they will all be answered. Just bear with me for a little longer.
