Chapter 1- HIDE And SEEK

WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS

After being patted thoroughly, with his mobile and briefcase being withheld outside by the officers, the door was buzzed opened and he was cleared to wait in the waiting area.

After around 5-7 minutes of waiting and roaming around the small room with his hands slipped into pants pockets, another officer brought the prison he was here to meet. He walked up to the officer, nodding slightly at him to leave them alone. Being well aware of the wary glances he was getting from the prisoner.

Once they were left alone, he gestured for the prisoner to take a seat. He noticed his hands still being tied in the heavy chains and wearing the orange jumpsuit. He grunted silently but took the metal seat on the opposite side.

"Why are you here Landon?" the prisoner asked skipping any sort of formalities.

Landon wore a creepy calm business smile at him as he took out his white handkerchief placing on the metal chair before taking a seat not wanting to sit on it directly. "Always a pleasure to meet you Detective Henderson."

Henderson glared at him and immediately stood up from his chair. "I am done!" He turned around and was ready to leave.

"Stop! We need to talk." Landon announced still keeping his formal smile on as he clasped his hands resting them on the table in front of him. His eyes looking at the table a bit disgraced by the filth he was in.

Henderson turned around glaring at him. "If you are here to mock me, then we have nothing to talk about." He spat anger lacing his voice.

"I wasn't mocking you. We still have a lot of respect for you Detective and for what you did for us." Landon spoke in his smooth voice looking up at Henderson's standing form.

Henderson gritted his teeth but took the seat anyway. "What I did for you? You mean how I lost everything for you guys! Even the dignity of being called a Detective!" He shouted but then lowered his voice.

"They know about your sacrifices Detective. And your family is being taken well care of. "Landon reassured as he straightened up on his seat.

Henderson bit down the further argument. "Why are you here?" He repeated his question.

"You never bothered to check up on me this past year and now....What's wrong?" Henderson asked him eyeing him closely.

Landon finally dropped his formal smile wearing a grim look. "You are right. There is actually a problem. Some discrepancies have risen these past few months. Our plan has been compromised." He told him clearly noticing the amused smile Henderson now wore.

Henderson gave out a mocked laugh. "And let me guess, these 'discrepancies' are closing in on you and your boss?"

"Yes." Landon looked at him now giving him a warning look. "Sir wanted me to make sure if you are still with us or...."

Landon trailed off knowing full well that he had clarified his threat to him.

Henderson raised an eyebrow at him. " So you are saying that after letting them catch me, disgrace my reputation and letting them take away my title, putting me in this hellhole and not bothering to meet me for a whole year after that...your boss wants to know if I am going to keep my mouth shut about what all I know?"

Henderson's tone and his face answered Landon's question for him. Before he could even attempt to convince him or rather put forward a threat, Henderson stood up from his seat and turned to walk away. But before exiting he turned sneering at him. "I hope they catch him. And make him pay for what he did."
