Chapter 1- HIDE and SEEK

Start from the beginning

His eyes widened a bit in shock. She shouldn't be thinking about that right now.

"Yes...Yes ma'am. Of course I did. But that can wait. They are all waiting for you to arrive. We should be..."

He was cut in the middle of the sentence when a sharp glare was send his way. He cringed at little. She's definitely hating every moment of her stay here. She finally turned around walking towards the side table and taking the glass of whiskey.

"You should know better than to tell me what to do Ed." There was a calm demeanour in her entire frame now.

Edward sighed in relief as he pushed his glasses back on the bridge of his nose. Phew! Dodged a bullet.

"Apologies ma'am. But I thought we flew back here for your father's funeral. The arrangements are all done. Everyone's already there. They know you are here. So..." He trailed off in his ramble noticing a black dress on her. She did dress herself for a funeral.

"I am not going there. You found out where are they holding hers?" She looked up at him with a raised eyebrow.

He nodded hastily. Understanding dawning on him. So it was her funeral she wanted to attend and not her own father's, Mr. Raymond. That makes a lot of sense. He was troubled when she had declared she wanted to go back to New York when she heard of her father's demise.

"And is he going to be there?" She asked keeping the empty glass back on the table. This time the question held a certain coldness.

"He should be. I mean it's a big deal. They are keeping the details all hush hush. But I managed to find out the location and also the fact that its tonight." Edward grinned proudly for himself. He wasn't waiting for any appreciation coming from her. Even though he did manage to find out the impossible.

She nodded and walked passed him. Her heels clanking against the walnut woods of the floor.

"Then that's where we are going." She disappeared behind the doors. Edward sighed but slid his hands in his black pants and followed behind her.

Their car was parked a good distance away from the cemetery. It was pitch dark. Specially this side of the city. Not many street lights or much crowd. It surprised Edward for the old solitary cemetery they had chosen for her. But it was just another puzzle piece added to a whole pile of 'Not making sense'.

Edward had parked their car a few corners away from the place. It was quite a distance but still enough to get a clear view of the cemetery. Vanessa had stopped her security to follow behind her. But Edward had discreetly asked them to keep an eye on the streets. Also they only took 2 with them. Vanessa didn't want to catch anyone's attention.

He could notice the restless increasing in her by the minute. The calm demeanour she usual held flickering a little every now and then. She ran her hands through her dirty blonde hair. What she actually wanted, why they were really here, was still a mystery to him.

Edward could see in her blue eyes that she really wanted to meet this guy. He then turned his attention back to the cemetery. He knew they were well hidden. No one would notice them from here. But they got a clear view of the cemetery.

A black Chevy stopped and someone got out of it. From this distance, they could only see blonde locks and a black dress basically merging her with the dark night and the darker street. That girl walked in slower paces towards the inner side of the cemetery. They could see that she was really trying hard not to break down. Finally Edward saw them assembling at the ceremony. Just a staff member which Edward had found out was their project head and that blonde girl. While the ceremony went on, Edward and Vanessa remained silent. Edward could feel his cell blaring off again and again. He cringed at the thought of all the explaining he'd have to do on behalf of Ms. Raymond. Why was she not present for her father's funeral?
