Chapter Twenty: Trouble

Lingerie shopping with Stephanie was something that I would never forget. I wasn’t a modest girl but seeing her in skimpy thongs was not something I would treasure for future years to come. She insisted that I tried on some items but I left the modeling to her. She made her purchases and we both made our way back to the food court to meet Clara. We stood waiting for a while and after ten minutes Clara still didn’t show up.

“Hmm… that’s odd. She isn’t answering her phone.” I told Stephanie after calling Clara several times.

“She is probably flirting with one of the coffee guys!” Stephanie joked. “Alec is calling me, I’ll be right back.”

I sighed and sat down at one of the tables. I didn’t have much to do but wait. I was observing my surroundings and watching people walk by when I felt that creepy feeling again. Goose bumps rose on my skin and I felt uncomfortable. Someone was watching me, I was sure of it.

Slowly I stood from my chair and grabbed my bag. I began walking down the hallway of stores to see if the feeling would follow me and it did. I made a few turns and went deeper into the mall and the sensation accompanied me every second of the way. The mall wasn’t crowded what so ever. It was a weekday so that was to be expected. I felt safe in numbers but there weren’t a lot of people here.

Cautiously, I turned my head and glanced over my shoulder. Someone was following me and my stalker was not giving off a good vibe.

I continued my way down the row of stores and towards a back hall that was secluded for the restrooms. Luckily it was empty and no one would be able to witness my next act. Swiftly I used my speed and strength to turn around and catch my stalker off guard. He was close too close for comfort and he had a knife in his hand. I rushed towards him as he began to swing, but of course he was no match for me.

I kicked his stomach, sending him far back into the wall and he grunted from the impact. Quickly, he jumped up and came at me again. I dodged his first to slices but was unlucky with his third swipe. The blade cut my forearm and I felt the searing pain for only a minute. My anger grew and the pain dulled with my thoughts. This man was out for blood. My blood.

I growled inhumanly, which was something I was never fond of. Growls were too animalistic but then again I am part animal. He came at me again, his dark clothing standing out in comparison to the white halls.  This time I was ready and had my anger to full my strength. He tried again to pierce my skin with his sharpened blade, but I was too quick for his movements and caught his hand. Using all my weight I gripped his wrist and bent it back, snapping the bone. The blade fell to the ground with a thud and I kicked it down the hall.

“Damn!” He screamed in pain. I kicked his torso again and he thudded against the wall. I ran up to him and gripped his throat tight with both of my hands. He hands circled my wrists and tried to untangle him but I was too strong. I never felt this strong before. This was new, and I couldn’t help myself liking it. The power felt amazing.

I tilted my head and starred at him deeply. He had a scar tracing along his chin that made him look menacing. His hair was black as coal and his eyes matched. His scent was off as well, making him a werewolf.

“I’m not sure we’ve met before.” I stated with confidence as his body was beginning to slack from a lack of air. “But I’m pretty sure I’ve never done anything to you in order to deserve to be killed.”

He was starting to turn a little blue so I slackened my grip a bit. He chuckled sinisterly. “Trust me its not personal babe. I’m all in for the money.”
