Chapter 2 (Edited/kind of)

~Vanessa'sPOV

When we got to the pack house, many members were already gathered in. Strange. Not that many people lived here. As me and my brothers weaved our way through the werewolves, my dad suddenly popped up and smiled.

"Hey guys! How was school?" Dad asked.

"Fine... I guess..." replied Mitchell, Alex looked around bored and slightly confused. "Er... Dad...? Why's there so many people here?" this time it was me who asked that.

"Oh didn't you know? Alpha Jonathan has some good news to tell the pack!" My dad said still smiling. Mitchell noded and went off somewhere while Alex stayed by me.

Some minutes passed until Alpha Jonathan came to the room and hushed everyone. The pack grew silent immediately.

"My pack members! I have received great news!" The alpha said, his voice echoing the large room we were in.

"My son will be returning in just a few days back from Paris! He is returning to take his rightful place as alpha! But yet he is still mateless, so we will be throwing a masquerade ball for his return! All are welcomed but we would prefer mateless she-wolfs to join. We will be preparing the ball as soon as possible! Thank you all for kindly listening." The alpha finished off with a small bow and walked off to talk to my dad.

A masquarde ball? Well that's fancy... Should I go?

'Hey Ava, do you wanna go to the masqurade ball?' I asked my wolf.

'Sure, it would be nice...' my wolf sighed.

I sighed myself, I felt sad for my wolf, Ava, she would rather try and look for her mate but I knew she wanted me to enjoy life and spend it having fun, not looking for their mate.

I went outside to breathe in some fresh air, 'cause honestly, the pack house is so stuffy inside!

I was just minding my own buisness until suddenly I was tackled to the ground.

"WHAT THE HECK?!" I shouted as I fell to the ground. I looked up to see a beaming Josie, what the hell is her problem?!

"Josie!! Why the heck did you just tackle me?!" I practically shouted, she got off me and stood up

"Because, I FOUND MY MATE!!" she squealed. Omg! My best friend just found her mate!

"Omg! Joise that's incredible! Who's the lucky guy...?" I asked, getting up. Then, almost immediately Josie's face fell.

"That's the problem. I-I don't know who is he! When I came here I smelt something amazing, something like your scent but with a hint of woods and mint. Then in a flash his scent was gone!" Josie cried and I gave her a hug quickly.

I hate seeing my best friend like this, It was rare seeing Joise cry, she's a strong girl, Josie didn't cry when she had to get an operation, she didn't cry when she broke her arm, she also didn't cry when Connor Triden bullied her in middle school. Josie was strong and no one ever dared making her cry or angry, some attempted to but all Josie did was smile and ignore them. And now im seeing her like this, crying, wow....

"Ssh, it's okay sweetie, I'll help you find him okay? No need to cry..." I say soothingly while stroking her hair softly. It took Josie only minutes to reply back to me.

"You're the best Vanessa, Im so lucky to have you as a best friend..." She smiled and I tried putting my best smile on.

"What Besties are, for Josie."
