The Other Solo

A/N: The picture is what I thought Jaina's wedding gown would look like. I'm sorry this chapter got a little long. I hope it doesn't seem like I'm rambling. 

1 Year later...

Yavin 4

Jaina plays with the lace sleeves of her gown while Leia finishes putting a wreath of flowers on her head and steps aside to admire her daughter.

"You look beautiful." She gushes wiping tears from her eyes.

"Thank you, Mother." Jaina embraces her.

"I can't believe you're getting married today." Leia sobs.

"I can't believe Papa isn't here."

Leia pulls back. "I know. I'm sorry darling."

"I know I shouldn't say this but... I feel off today." Jaina frowns moving away from the mirror.

"I'm so mad at your father. We sent so many messages out to him, one of them had to have reached him... This is just so like him."

Jaina shakes her head looking out the temple window to the gardens. "No it's more than that."

"Oh Darling, it's just cold feet." Leia reassures fluffing Jaina's long hair.

There's a light knock at the door and in walks Maz carrying a small box.

"Hello, my child." She greets.

"Maz! I'm so glad you could make it!" Jaina exclaims.

"I have a wedding gift." Maz motions to the box in her tiny hands.

Jaina and Leia sit next to Maz on the bed. "You didn't have to..."

Maz holds up her hand to stop Jaina. "I may know where to find the Church of the Force."

Hope swells inside of Jaina. "Truly?"

Maz opens the box and produces a drive with a star map. Leia calls BB-8 into the room and places the map inside him. He beeps and projects the map in the room.

"Ovanis?" Leia questions, Maz simply nods her head.

"We have to tell Poe." Jaina says making her way to the door.

Leia stands between the door and Jaina. "Not so fast...It's bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the wedding."

"Oh Mother... I don't believe in such superstitions." Jaina says with a wave of her hand.

A loud crash makes the whole temple shudder. All three women rush to the window to see First Order ships landing in the gardens. Stormtroopers pour out and begin firing on everyone. The Republic and Resistance soldiers return fire as guests flee into the temple.

Jaina runs out of the room grabbing her lightsaber. It's hard to move in the halls due to the crowd scattering through. It reminds of her of the night the Jedi were massacred. She reaches the balcony just above the grand courtyard. Korr is helping her father ascend the stairs.

"Korrie!" Jaina yells rushing to them.

"Jaina!" She calls back losing her grip on Sondiv. Jaina reaches them in time to avoid him falling. A few men come to help, taking Sondiv out of their arms.

"Have you seen Poe?" Jaina asks when she and Korrie reach the top of the stairs.

"Yes, he was down in the garden still. He was firing back on the troopers." Korr answers.

Jaina turns to leave but a blast blows open the foyer doors. She and Korr are thrown back and roll down the steps. They land in the courtyard out of breath and their ears ringing.
