"Ah!" Willow yowled, "the sky has disappeared!"
His mate Rose popped her head out, "Gone?! What will we do! What about our kits?"
"Stay in there! Im going to ask the other cats around here if they know why this is happening! Rose went inside the small whole that he dug out for their nest. He sprinted to the place of gathering. When he was about halfway there he spotted a small she-cat. She was all black with a white foreleg and tail. She stood there for a moment, almost like she was dead, like....a rock. The next moment her head jolted up, she looked horrified. Her pupils were barely visible, and they were moving rapidly. She rushed over to him as soon as she spotted him.
Without warning she shouted, " Head for the rocks that reach past the clouds."
Before he could respond she sprinted off. He tried to follow her, but as he chased her she seemed to fade into the sky. He looked up after she disappeared only to see a single star shining above him. It memorized him, it was so bright!
He reluctantly regained his thoughts, and rushed off to the place of gathering. When he got there he heard a plethora of voices.
"Where did it go?"
"Will we survive?"
"I guess my kits won't get to see the moon."
"What are we going to do!"
"If the sky is gone soon the land will leave to won't it?"
He recalled what the cat had said, "Head for the rocks that reach past the clouds."
Her voice echoed in his head, "Make them leave! Go to where it's safe!"
He gathered all his courage and jumped on to a large rock.
"My fellow felines, I know of a place that is safe! You must follow me! We will head to the mountains, the one that reach past the clouds! We will become the moon and the stars!"
All the cats looked with uncertain faces but slowly nodded.
They climbed to the place they called star mountain.
And you know......Willow was right. They became the stars. All except one, that cat became memorized again at the top of star mountain. And he never looked away, he sat there until he was nothing but stone.
Young traveler, do not climb to the top of mount star, you won't be able to leave, you will unwillingly join the tribe or gazing stars. And more importantly do not look directly at the place where they look, or you will become a stone warrior among the others.
