It was 8 PM, by now they would have brought him in, but he was nowhere in sight. Your superior walked into the room and addressed you "Guard, you are dismissed. You will be reassigned to a new post for the time being. You will stand watch over the Winter Soldier's living quarters." Your face was emotionless, but you could feel all the colour flush from it. You knew better than to question this assignment, but you couldn't help but wonder "Sir, may I ask why I am being assigned to this post?" Your superior almost looked offended "Are you questioning my orders, girl?" He spat "No sir, sorry sir." He nodded and left you alone in the room.

This was odd, only certain guards got assignments as important as this, guards with a much higher level of clearance. They also didn't wipe  his memory today. What was going on?

You gathered yourself and made your way over to your new post. The door to Bucky's cell, or "living quarters" as they called it, had a small window on it. You could just about see into the room. He was sat on the edge of a cot. His head still hung low, he never seemed to look up.

The first couple of nights on the shift weren't too bad, you honestly almost fell asleep most of the time. He did nothing but pace around when he wasn't on a mission. They still didn't wipe him, maybe the machine was broken. You thought you could survive this job until one night..

It was around 2 am and you were working the graveyard. Your eyelids were getting heavy as you leaned on the door and you started dozing off, that was until screams woke you up. You looked around to see who it was, and it was him, it was Bucky.

You peered into the room to find him laying on the bed. He appeared to be having a nightmare, and a bad one at that. You opened the door quietly and closed it behind you. You would probably get in trouble for entering his quarters, but you couldn't watch him struggle like this.

You inched closer to the cot. He tossed and turned and yelled. "No! Please! Please!" sobs escaped his lips and beads of sweat ran down his face. Instinctively, you kneeled down and started rubbing his temples lightly. This was something you did to help Steve when he had nightmares, which was actually quite often.

He stopped squirming and calmed down for a couple seconds. Then, an inhumanly strong arm shot up and wrapped around your neck. It was his metal arm. He was still asleep. You gasped for breath and tried desperately to loosen the hand's grasp on you, but you had no luck. Just as you were going unconscious, you met a pair of beautiful blue eyes, and the pressure being applied to your neck was gone.
