Chapter 2

" Ha I won!"

"not on yer nelly son Ah got 'ere first!"

"girls girls stop it, you're both beautiful."

Jack said, getting the attention of the two stubborn and proud pookas while he hovered down to stand next to them, earning an amused mock scowl from Aster,

" Dash you're becoming more and more your father with every passing day."

he added as his feet touched the grassy ground in the warren lightly frosting the ground he stepped on.  Suddenly a portal opened up and out came the other three guardians, Tooth began buzzing around Dash excitedly chirping 'happy birthday dear', while Sandy formed images of a happy face, the number 18, and a birthday cake,

" thanks Tooth, thanks Sandy..."

Dash replied to their greetings before nearly getting knocked off his feet by a strong clap on his back by North.

"Ah good to be seeing you Dash, I trust you are doing vell da?"

After regaining his balance Dash turned to face North, though he did have to tilt his head up a bit to face the mighty russian,

"yeah I'm doing great North thanks for asking..."

Dash looked around warily to be sure Aster wasn't listening in on their conversation seeing that his fathers were conversing with the other two guardians he returned his gaze to North before continuing in a hushed tone,

"how are prepartions for Christmas coming this year by the way?"

"Ah preparations are going vell, though, Phil keeps painting the toys the vong color."

at the mention of Phil messing up as usual the pair had a hardy laugh.  Jack let out a sharp whistle to get everyone's attention. Only once all eyes were on him did he continue to speak,

"okay now that everyone is here, let's get this party started!"

Sandy flashed an image of a party hat above his head while giving his signature two thumbs up as tooth cheered in agreement,

"da Jack is right, let the celebration begin!"

North clapped his hands together to emphasize his statement.  Dash didn't need to be told twice he led everyone into a seperate part of the burrow large enough for everyone to celebrate.

  The party went by in a blur, before anyone knew it, it was over and Sandy and Tooth had to return to work as did North though he was hesitant eventually Sandy knocked him out and brought him back to Santoff Clausen, Dash however was too busy marveling at the amazing gifts he had gotten this year. Sandy had gien him a case of dream sand grenades to help make a quick getaway, Tooth had given him dental floss, he filed away plans on how to use it to make a tripwire trap incase need be, somedays he was thankful for Jack' mischeivious mind, North's gift was his favorite, much to Aster's hidden dismay, an experimental reusable transport snowglobe.  After the other Guardians took their leave it had finally dawned on Dash and he turned around to face his parents, who were trying hard to control their laughter that was coming out in a few snickers and snorts,

"so, what did you guys  get me? and what's so funny?"

Jack surprisingly was the first to stop laughing and so he spoke up first,

"well we're just laughing because it took you this long to say something."

he replied leaning against Aster with a smug look, crossing his arms. Aster's face went from Joy filled to stone cold serious in a blink of an eye,

"an' as for wha' we got fer ya, we recognize tha' ya are now a young adult, an' therefer are old 'nough ta know..."

he walked over to three chairs placed by the fireplace, sittin in one, Jack sat in the one to the side of his and Dash sat across from them,

"y-you mean?!"

the young pooka began to ask, his eyes shining with curiosity, joy, and wonder.

"Yeah son, Ah'm gonna tell ya the story o' how me an' yer pa got together..."

Aster said, leaning back in his chair, closing his eyes and letting the memories flow back into his mind as if they were yesterday, opening his eyes back up he began,

"I guess it all started 'bout a year afta our fight with Pitch."...
