"Wisteria I have something important to tell you. An announcement made from Kora was given earlier this morning, how on earth can you still be sleeping?"
I lay there in my warm bed of soft cotton and material, sleepily looking up at the kind face of Leon. Leon has icy blue eyes and soft olive skin, his jet black hair messily falls over his face as he looks down at me. He is the son of Artemis and he is also my childhood friend. 16 years I've known this kid. I finally decide to move and stretch, spreading out my entire body.
"What is it Leon?" I ask wrapping my wool blanket around me and sitting upward looking at him.
"She wants you and I to take out a hunting patrol. You're my second in command for the hunting patrol from now on."
He stands up from sitting on my bed and rips the blanket off of me, I hold my body and shiver. I hate being cold. Hate it, hate it, hate it and he knows that. I jump up and tackle him to the ground pinning his hands behind his head. He wriggles trying to break free. I'm a lot stronger than him despite my body being slimmer and smaller than his tall muscular one. When we were kids I'd do this and tickle him, even though he's 17 he is still as ticklish as he was as a child.
"Wisteriaaaa get offfffff." He whines
I laugh and smile at him my hand threatening to tickle him
"Don't rip away my warm comfiness ever again then."
"I swear I won't" he pleads
Freeing his hands I stand up
"It's almost time to go out." He says looking at me
"I'll meet you at the center of camp, I'm going to get ready."
"You have 20 minutes"
I give him a nod and he walks out of my cabin.
Leon can be fun and child-like one moment and mature and serious the other. I walk over to my huge wardrobe and shiny gold mirror. I look at myself in horror, my dark brown hair wildly falls around my face, bags are found under my hazel eyes as well as some lovely crusties found in the tear ducts. I wash my face and brush my long hair into two Dutch braids. I slide on my red hunting garments and dark hood. I slide on my boots, quickly walk over to the door and throw on my quiver and grab my bow on the way out. I walk to the center of camp, a group of about 7 people are found standing and talking with Leon. Leon turns and looks at me.
"Wisteria, we're going to head north to the less wooded area. That's where most of the game has been found lately."
I nod and walk next to him as we leave camp. Kora walks past us on our way out, she looks at me and glares. I never knew what her problem was with me. She's the leader of the camp, I'm not sure why I'm always such a concern of hers when there's about a million of us and I'm sure she has better things to worry about. I avoid her gaze and look ahead of us. Helios begins to set leaving bright orange and pink in the sky, it's a clear afternoon, no clouds to be found. I breathe in the cool clean air. The bright colors of the sky remind me of the fires of my father. I haven't seen him since my 9th birthday. Once I turned 10 my father brought me to this camp. I never knew why and I still don't, but I remember him telling me it was for the best. I trust in my father that it was. I didn't know anyone at the camp of Nightkeep, or so I thought. Leon was my first and only friend here we had met previously before the camp.
"Well, we're here." Leon said messily running his fingers through his hair.
