i sat criss-cross in the green, dirty tall grass behind the brick school building, watching all the ladybugs, ants and butterflies mingling around.

"hey connah." someone whispered beside me.

turning my head from the majestic insects, i was met with the sea light blue eyes i've grown familiar with.

"hey t-roye." i replied, tugging the collar of my jacket up impossibly further.

"who the hell wears a leather jacket in the summer?" troye scoffed, ruffling up my hair. "you're a special little bean, connie." he continued.

"yeah... i guess i am." i chuckled nervously, turning a deep crimson shade of rose red.

"you're cute when you blush." he said, looking into my eyes, smiling at me warmly.
