I walked into the rain with Joel right behind me. It felt cold at first but then my body got used to it. I walked by myself with Joel behind me for a while but then I stopped and he bumped into me. "Sorry I didn't mean to stop abruptly" I said. He just looked at me and said "it's fine" "what's wrong? Did I do something wrong?" I asked. "No I was just thinking.." "About?" "Everything really." "Me too" "you know---" we said in unison then laughed. "Go first I told him" "I was just going to say, this has been one of the best nights I've had in a long while" "I was going to say the same thing" he shot me a warm smile that made me give him a small smile. He put his arm around my shoulder and pulled me closer to him. Without realizing it we were on our way home but then I remembered my sweater and I started laughing and told Joel. We weren't that far away from the park so I turned around and said I'll beat you back. I started running leaving Joel utterly confused. Then he started running after me. I reached that little house where I had left my sweater but it wasn't there. ): I could've sworn I ha left it there I tried looking around the table but it was dark and I could barely see. I gave up. Joel finally appeared and got scared when I got up off the floor. Then he realized it was me and asked why I was there. "I can't find my sweater but it's fine it looks like it's pretty late and we should go home" Joel grabbed his jacket and put it over me. I told him no but he said it was fine. My hair was soaking wet and so was his. I just wanted to run my hair through his hair and mess it up even more. I realized I was staring and quickly looked away. He just smiled. We walked home in the rain. We were walking and talking and I was actually laughing. I felt happy for once, like actual happiness. And it felt good to feel that way.
I realized I had stopped and then Joel turned and looked at me. "What?" He asked. "Thankyou." I smiled and he asked "why?" "I'll leave you with a benefit of the doubt." (-; "hey did your phone ever turn on?" "No it didn't and I don't think it will. And I hope my mom isn't calling me because it's late and she's really worried" "I'm so sorry I'm so used to my dad not worrying about me being out late I forgot your mom probably would. Want to run home? Cause it's still quite far away" "no it's fine I enjoy talking to you and walking with you in the rain" we were both shivering and he put his arm around my shoulder. And pulled me closer to him. I could feel his warmth and it was very comforting. We arrived at my house and we removed our shoes and I removed his sweater and handed it back to him. I walked in quietly. All the lights were off and but there was noise in a room upstairs. We went upstairs and I told Joel to shower in my bathroom that I would shower in the one downstairs. I grabbed some black sweatpants and a loose long sleeve black shirt and went downstairs. I reached the bottom step and then I hear someone open the front door and they start yelling.
