Chapter 2 • Apples and Potatoes

Start from the beginning

I walked out of the kitchen to the two glass doors right at the back of the room. I opened one of the doors and peeked outside. I looked for my parents, I found them at the back of the garden in the hammock behind the Olympic sized swimming pool. I instantly smiled when I saw my dad's hand on my mom's tummy.

"Hi mom, hi dad." I smiled.

"Hey honey." My dad greeted.

I then saw my mom mouth 'help me!' in a joking manner.

"Your dad doesn't want me to go to work." My mom whined like a child.

"So I can risk her falling over and hurting herself, never." My dad said.

"OK, while you guys talk this out, I'll be changing and helping Aunt Grace with the cooking." I said while walking away.

I walked back into the house, up the stairs and walked a marathon to my room; which was basically at the end of the hall.

I got into my room and was welcomed with the smell of coffee.

Heaven...

My room smells like coffee because I have this thing that releases the smell of coffee. This made my room more relaxing than it already is.

One wall of my room is a brilliant blue, another is white and another is a bright sunset orange. The last wall has a white background with the same colour of the other two walls painted over as if they were vines. One side was filled with blue vines, the other with orange vines.

At the back where the peach coloured curtains are, around that area there is a black grand piano on the right side of the room. Right across the piano, my wardrobe was there.

The colour of my wardrobe door is cream white. The wardrobe is a walk-in wardrobe though.

Next to the wardrobe, there is a door that leads to my bathroom. The colour theme of my bathroom is pastel baby blue. It had everything that a normal bathroom consisted of; a bathtub, a basin, a toilet, a shower and a full length mirror.

Next to the bathroom door was my dressing table. My dressing table was midnight black with silver handles for all the different drawers.

Finally right across my dressing table, my bed. My bed covers have a white background with a cherry blossom tree.

My bed is queen sized and has a few teddy bears scattered around. The headboard is brown with a few mahogany shades.

I looked at my dressing table and noticed that I left my rubber bracelet. It must have slipped my mind this morning. I walked up and put it on my left wrist.

The bracelet is blue, pink and white. I bought two of these many years back. I kept one and gave the other to my mom.

Before I walked into my wardrobe to change, I dropped my bag next to my bed and chose to wear purple sweatpants, a white shirt and my leopard print slipper boots.

I jogged down stairs to help Aunt Grace chop a few onions. After the cooking we were about to have dinner but we waited for Tasia.

She then followed shortly after a few minutes, excused herself while saying she isn't hungry and went up to her room.

"Greg, I'm worried about her. She rarely comes to eat dinner with all of us." My mom said while looking at my dad.

"Don't worry. She sent me a text saying that she went out with a few friends after school to a restaurant. " my dad reassured.

Later we all had dinner and shortly went to our rooms.

I got to my room, changed into my pyjamas and saw my phone notifying me saying that I had a message. I opened it and it said...

Yeah, I know that I let you down
But is it too late to say sorry now?

-H

As I read the message, I then remembered a few memories that caused me nothing but pain and tried to go to sleep.
